In order to counteract the two kinds of wrong conceptions, two kinds of reasons are separately explained, namely: to counteract the wrong conception that all things do not perish, the reason with hindrance is explained; to counteract the wrong conception that although generally perishing, it perishes depending on other things that cause the perishing that arises later from its own cause, the reason without dependence is explained. Secondly, there are two ways to establish the relationship of that arising: the determination of the cause and effect to be established, and the manner in which it is determined. First, there are two parts: definition and classification. First, the definitions of cause and effect are, respectively: by the power of benefiting its other subsequent thing, it becomes the place of following and ceasing; by the power of benefiting its other prior thing, it becomes the place of following and ceasing. Second, there are two parts: the classification of causes and the classification of effects. First, regarding causes, the Vaibhashikas say: "The agent, co-emergent, and, Equal, possessing, Pervading and maturation, Causes are thought to be six kinds." Although it is thought that there are six kinds of causes, here, the agent cause, the co-emergent cause, and the equal cause are not the nature of cause, because the agent cause is not a benefactor, and the latter two are simultaneous with the effect. The other three must also be acknowledged as causes here, because the equal cause and the maturation cause are explained, and the pervasive cause is included in the equal cause. Therefore, if causes are classified, there are two kinds: the equal cause and the maturation cause, or the substantial cause and the co-operative cause. Second, regarding effects, the Vaibhashikas think that there are five kinds of effects: the maturation effect, the similar cause effect, the separation effect, the agent effect, and the dominant effect, but here, the first two effects are acknowledged according to the Vaibhashika's view, and the third is not an effect, because it is not existent. The fifth and fourth are acknowledged, but not according to the Vaibhashika's view, because there is no simultaneous cause and effect, and all conditioned phenomena are not mutual causes and effects. Then, what are the entities of those two?
