Like the word "is." Third, incidentally identifying the three distinctions of the meaning of what is said, divided into three distinctions based solely on the distinguished base, and three distinctions combining the distinguished base and the distinguished attribute. The first is that a single vase possesses all three distinctions. The second is that some consider "done" to be a non-inherent distinction for sound, "audible" to be a other-inherent distinction for sound, and "audible" to be a non-existent distinction for sound, thus combining with their respective distinguishing attributes. However, when combined with a single distinguishing attribute, it is necessary to have all three distinctions, because if the name and the named are completely pure, it is necessary to have the three distinctions of the meaning of what is said. So, how are they possessed? "Audible" is a non-inherent distinction for sound, because if it is sound, it must be audible. This eliminates non-pervasion. It is an other-inherent distinction for sound, because if it is not sound, it must not be audible. This eliminates over-pervasion. It is a non-existent distinction for sound, because audibility exists on all bases of sound. This eliminates non-existence. This is the view of Dignāga and his son, where Dignāga's definition of name is a non-deceptive consciousness, and the definition of a correct object of proof for the benefit of others is the essence of reality, etc., possessing five qualities. Dharmakīrti eliminated the three faults of non-pervasion, over-pervasion, and non-existence. The meaning of which, the great master Paṇḍita said: "Non-pervasion, over-pervasion, non-existence, are common faults of definitions. All distinctions of sound and meaning, there are no others besides these three." Therefore, just as the three distinctions of the expressing sound are not contradictory, the three distinctions of the meaning of what is said are also not contradictory, which is the key to understand. Third, to ascertain its meaning, there are three points: revealing that the direct meaning of sound does not exist in things; the way of being deluded about a baseless thing and making conventional agreements; and the rationality of obtaining self-character by making conventional agreements on a baseless thing. First, the direct meaning of sound does not exist in things, because all knowables are summarized into four: the self-character of things, the self-character of consciousness, the general character of meaning, and the general character of sound. The first two are not direct meanings, and the latter two are non-existent. Second, for meaning, external

Even though it is not actually the case, the mind mistakenly takes external objects as real, and this is the function of convention. Due to beginningless habits, the mind itself is deluded, for example, hearing the word "vase" gives rise to the appearance of a vase, and even though this appearance is not the vase itself, it is mistaken for a vase, and it is agreed that "this is a vase." If this key point is not understood, proponents of internal and external tenets will have many different ways of recognizing the objects to be expressed, as mentioned earlier. The key to the extremely subtle reasoning of the glorious Dharmakirti and his son is also evident here. Third, by confusing appearance and concept as one, one can obtain self-character. Because at the time of convention, appearance and concept are confused as one to make the convention; at the time of using names, appearance and concept are also confused as one to use them. Therefore, one can obtain self-character in any case, because fabrication cannot obtain self-character. This key point was also stated by Jamyang Lama: "Two dharmas cannot be one, and there is no self-nature on the reverse. By merely stating the reverse, the inverted object is established." Therefore, if one has good fortune, it is impossible not to understand this meaning. Third, refuting arguments, including refuting the view that the generalities of things are the objects to be expressed, etc., will be explained in the section on tenets in the Treasury of Reasoning. The actual object to be expressed, the way of speaking is not actually existent; the object to be expressed by clinging, the way of speaking is self-character. It is like this when explaining, but when using, it will be confused as one, thus obtaining self-character. This is the concluding verse. The way of understanding the object to be expressed and the way of speaking has been explained. The way of understanding relationship and contradiction Fourth, the way of understanding relationship and contradiction is divided into two: the establishment of relationship and the establishment of contradiction. First, relationship is divided into three: negating relationship on things, establishing relationship on the mind, and explaining the valid cognition that determines relationship. First, negating relationship is divided into two: general negation and individual negation. First is general negation: there is no relationship on things, because the relationship on things is not established on real things, and the relationship on things is not established on non-real things. First, it is established on real things, because real things can be clearly distinguished into self and other, and the self does not mix with the other, and the other does not mix with the self.
