Now, because it is a bird, and because it is the object of the conceptual mind that grasps trees, if that conceptual mind is guided by the direct perception that grasps trees, then the other-exclusion is the other-exclusion that is determined to be manifest, otherwise it is the other-exclusion that is determined to be hidden. Furthermore, from the sign of having feathers, on the basis of having feathers, when one understands that there are trees, the previous other-exclusion becomes the other-exclusion of subsequent inference that is based on truth; when one grasps that there are trees where there are none, it becomes the other-exclusion of inversion that is based on untruth; when one doubts whether there are trees or not, it becomes the other-exclusion of doubt that doubts both. Moreover, that (other-exclusion) is called the non-affirmative negation other-exclusion, because it is that definition. For the conceptual mind that grasps non-trees, the imputation that appears as non-trees is called determination, because it depends on determining the tree that is to be negated. Similarly, the three, other-exclusion, exclusion, and reverse, should also be understood in combination. The four, generality, etc., should also be understood through the way of following all non-trees, etc. Furthermore, that (other-exclusion) is called the non-existence other-exclusion and the non-entity other-exclusion, because it is the imputation that appears as the non-existence of the entity of the tree after determining the ability of the tree to perform its function. There are two types of these, of which the non-existence other-exclusion where the object to be negated exists in the knowable, because the object to be negated of this is the existence of the tree. It is also called the non-negation other-exclusion, because it is the imputation that appears as the aspect of negation after determining the establishment of the object to be negated. If this is done, then when the conceptual mind engages with the object, through the aspect of other-exclusion, it will be easy to understand the way in which it pervades all knowables. With establishment and exclusion, possessing clear wisdom, the logician's prophecy that the reality of the knowable is like omniscience, I wonder if I will attain it in this present age? This is an intermediate verse. Third, in terms of refuting arguments, there are five: refuting that it is impossible to express without generality, refuting the fault that if it is other-exclusion, it becomes mutually dependent, refuting that other-exclusion does not apply without the object to be determined, refuting that it is unreasonable to examine whether exclusion is established as an entity or not, and refuting the argument that there can be no common basis if exclusion has no generality. Namely, the Commentary on Valid Cognition and the Treasury of Reasoning.

It should be understood by the respective treatises themselves. Secondly, incidentally analyzing the classification of eliminative and affirmative entry. Among the two, refutation and establishment, firstly, some say that the definitions of eliminative entry and affirmative entry are, respectively: entering by dividing into parts in one's own object, and entering without dividing it. To this, others say: Cognition, is a subject, it should be that definition, because it is an eliminative entry. If you accept, then, that subject, is a subject, it should have an object that is not your object, because you accept that view. If you accept, then, it should not exist, because if it is an object, it must be your object. Furthermore, the cognition grasping a pot, is a subject, it should be that definition, because it is an eliminative entry. If you accept, then, it should not be, because it enters all of its own objects. If you say so, then, the cognition grasping the made of a pot, is a subject, it should be that, because of that reason. The sign and pervasion are accepted. If you accept, then, it should not be, because the cognition grasping the made of a pot does not grasp its impermanence. However, the previous view is not reasonable, because, although it is thought to be the meaning of "as many parts as are imputed," that treatise only explains the way of entering of sound cognition that distinguishes one thing into different things, but does not explain the general way of entering of eliminative entry. Otherwise, focusing on all the clear trees, saying "it is a tree," the cognition grasping the commonality of trees as one, is a subject, it should be that definition, because it is an eliminative entry. If you accept, then, it should not be, because it is a cognition focusing on all the clear trees, grasping the commonality of trees as one. Also, some say: Whichever is the object of that dharma, when that dharma is made the object, all the dharmas that are of the same nature as that dharma and the establishment of that dharma are made the object, this is the definition of affirmative entry on that dharma. The opposite of this is the definition of eliminative entry on that dharma. To this, others say: Made, is a subject, it should be the object of sound impermanence, because you are an eliminative entry on it, because you are a correct sign about it. The pervasion is established, because in the Auto-commentary it says: "It only understands the way of distinguishing sound and sign," and "Therefore it is fully proclaimed to be the object of eliminating the sign in this way," and "When distinguishing one meaning that is mixed, sound or sign is the only one, agent and action." Saying so is not reasonable, because, the non-conceptual and non-mistaken awareness, is a subject, you are blue.
