Because it is said, "Whatever is Dharma..." etc. Thirdly, it is necessary to distinguish the three, sound, action, and impermanence, by conceptual thought, into distinct opposites. Because after distinguishing them in this way, in the presence of conceptual thought, combining the reason, the property, and the meaning separately, one will realize that sound is impermanent. As from "The establishment of Dharma and Dharmas" to "For the sake of entering the ultimate meaning, it is done by the wise." and "By the difference of that, the transformations of conceptual thought are well done." Because it is said. If you know this key point, there is no place to generate doubts about whether the past reason, property, and meaning are self-characterized or not. Secondly, there are two divisions of that, namely, the division itself and the establishment of each. First, dividing from the point of view of the basis, there are two types of other-exclusion: existent other-exclusion and non-existent other-exclusion, or real entity other-exclusion and non-real entity other-exclusion. Each of these can be divided into two from the point of view of the object-possessor, sound, and conceptual thought: existent sound other-exclusion and existent mind other-exclusion; non-existent sound other-exclusion and non-existent mind other-exclusion. Similarly, the other-exclusion of real entities and non-real entities is also explained in this way. From the point of view of the mode of apprehension, there are two types of other-exclusion: non-affirming negation and excluding negation. Secondly, among the four other-exclusions—real entity, non-real entity, non-affirming negation, and excluding negation—the first has two aspects: definition and division. The first is the imputation that appears as a real entity in the presence of conceptual thought, having severed the inability to perform a function. The second has two types of other-exclusion: that which is ascertained by the manifest and that which is ascertained by the hidden. The first is like the actual object of definitive cognition that arises after directly seeing the self-characterized meaning, as in the verse, "Whatever knowledge is of some that are seen." The second is that which becomes the actual object of sound conceptual thought without relying on directly seeing the self-characterized meaning. The divisions are: the other-exclusion of valid inference, the other-exclusion of invalid cognition, and the other-exclusion of doubt and uncertainty in both. The first is like the general meaning of the object to be proven that has become the actual object of inference. The second is the imputation that appears in the presence of conceptual thought as not conforming to the situation, by way of cutting off the state of the object, that is.

For example, for the conceptual thought that grasps sound as permanent, it is like appearing that sound is permanent through cutting off the impermanence of sound. The third is doubt, which also does not go beyond conceptual thought, so for what is doubted, it is like appearing to cut off that which is not it. Second, for the other-exclusion of non-things, there are: definition, classification, and the reason why non-things do not become objects of appearance, these three. The first is, in the face of conceptual thought, the imputation of appearing as a non-thing after cutting off the ability to perform a function. The second is, there are two types: the object to be negated is knowable, such as the other-exclusion of the absence of a pot; and the object to be negated is knowable, such as the other-exclusion of the absence of a rabbit's horn. Third, there are: the reason why non-things do not become objects of appearance, and the refutation of arguments against it, these two. The first is, that non-thing is made into an object by conceptual thought through the way of other-exclusion, but it is not made into an object through the way of appearance. Because it is established as knowable through the way of eliminating the object to be negated, but it is not established through its own nature. Because, for what is not held as knowable, there will be no fallacies, etc. Because it is said like this (in the scriptures). Second, there are four types of refutation of arguments: refutation of arguments that are the same as things, that contradict valid cognition, that contradict fame, and that contradict scripture, which need to be understood on the basis of the text itself. Third, for the other-exclusion of non-affirmative negation, there are definition and names, these two. The first is, in the face of conceptual thought, the imputation of appearing in the way of establishing after cutting off the object to be negated, the non-affirmative negation. For example, the other-exclusion of a pot. The second is, in this system, the other-exclusion of non-affirmative negation, non-affirmative negation, and the establishment of exclusion, these three have the same meaning. And, this has two types: the object to be negated is truly cut off, and the object to be negated is not truly cut off. The first is, such as the other-exclusion of the place of pots, etc. The latter is what was just explained. Fourth, for the other-exclusion of annihilative negation, there are definition, names, and classification, these three. The first is, in the face of conceptual thought, the imputation of appearing as a negative aspect after cutting off establishment. The second is, the other-exclusion of annihilative negation, annihilative negation, and the other-exclusion of non-existence, and the other-exclusion of non-things, etc., are synonyms, but the latter two need different meanings and opposites. The third is, divided into two from the perspective of whether the object to be negated exists or not, which is
