It is just like a vase and its three characteristics of being made and impermanent are also one substance with no difference in essence. Its pervasion is composed of a reason that is independent and a sign that is harmful. The pervasion is established because it is based on the experience of seeing the blue color of a cat's eye stone when it is seen. Third, direct perception does not have certainty about its own object, because it becomes a valid means of cognition for that object just by seeing it. As it says in the Auto-commentary: "Now, how is the uncertain apprehended by direct perception?" and so on. The Commentary on Valid Cognition says: "Self-awareness, whose nature is happiness and so forth, which is not related to expression, is direct perception." The Drop of Reasoning says: "Therefore, first of all, that which sees the uncommon object is itself the valid cognition." Because it is said. If it is said: "It is not the cause of determining existence or non-existence, therefore it does not become a valid cognition." There is no fault, because it refers to leading to certainty by one's own power and leading to certainty by the power of others. If the self-object is not certain, will it not become a valid cognition? To this, some answer: Although direct perception does not have the certainty of conceptualization, it has the certainty of non-conceptualization, so there is no fault. Then, what is the meaning of the certainty of non-conceptualization? Is it the certainty of merely appearing to the self-object? Or is it to eliminate superimposition by way of elimination? If it is the former, then the sign and inference that establish sound as impermanent after the sound-perceiving direct perception become meaningless, because when it sees the impermanence of sound, it determines it. If it is the latter, then the sound-perceiving direct perception becomes conceptual, because it is the wisdom that cuts off superimposition by way of elimination. There is no fault in one's own system, because the root direct perception that apprehends a vase is no different from being a valid cognition for the shape and the impermanence of the vase, but it is able to lead to certainty about the shape of the vase by its own power, because it has no contradictory causes of confusion, and the conducive conditions are long-lasting habituation, and there is trust. There is no certainty that it can lead to certainty about its impermanence by its own power, because it has causes of confusion, such as the appearance of other similar things, and so on. Second, in terms of elimination, the way it is explained in the scriptures and commentaries, apart from that, the Tibetan scholars.

Regarding the views on 'other-exclusion' (apoha). Among these, the Sakya school's views can be identified in three aspects. The first aspect includes two types of views: those stated in the main texts and those stated in the commentaries. The first is that the complete chapter on examining the 'Treasure Trove of Logic' (Tshad ma mdzod) has been taught, which thoroughly refutes (other-exclusion). In the first chapter of the 'Commentary on Valid Cognition' (Pramanavarttika), the discussion of 'other-exclusion' is extensively explained, starting from the relationship between the probandum and the property of the reason in the nature-reason. In the chapter on direct perception (pratyaksha), the discussion of 'other-exclusion' is also extensively explained when proving that universals are non-existent and when proving that direct perception is free from conceptualization. In the chapter on the benefit of others (parartha), the discussion of 'other-exclusion' is also briefly mentioned. The second aspect includes two types of discussions: the discussion of three aspects of 'other-exclusion' and the discussion of two aspects of 'other-exclusion.' The first is the views of Abbot Shantarakshita, Dharmakirti, and Shakya Lodro. Among these, it is held that since the counter-entity is without inherent existence, it is the 'other-exclusion' of negation; since the wisdom of universals is also deceptive, it is the 'other-exclusion' of wisdom; and through statements such as "similar things are things of others," the 'other-exclusion' of the own-character of things is shown. Regarding this, Shantarakshita said, "Here, there are two kinds of exclusion: what is not and what is not present. What is not also has two kinds: the distinction of mind and object." Therefore, 'other-exclusion' is divided into two types: 'other-exclusion' of non-affirmation and 'other-exclusion' of negation. Among these, the 'other-exclusion' of non-affirmation is further divided into two types: the 'other-exclusion' of mind and the 'other-exclusion' of object, making a total of three 'other-exclusions.' Among these, when considering the scope of identifying the 'other-exclusion' of object, it is said, "Immortality and other own-characters of objects are inherently different from others." And, when considering the scope of identifying the 'other-exclusion' of mind, it is said, "Whatever appearance of consciousness arises in dependence on that, is a conceptual image of the object. If it is not the nature of the object, it is definitely called an object. Because it exists without mixing with others, it is also the cause of its own character." And, when considering the scope of identifying the 'other-exclusion' of negation, it is said, "This cow is not without a cow, which means it is excluded by absence. The 'other-exclusion' that is extremely clear should be understood as only this." This is what was said. The meaning of these words is that the 'other-exclusion' of objects, such as the immortal fruit, i.e., the own-characters of objects such as haritaki, are called 'other-exclusion' because they exist without mixing with others due to their own nature. The 'other-exclusion' of mind,
