Therefore, you are the consciousness that clearly manifests its own object. Because decisive cognition is the consciousness that does not clearly manifest its own object. Furthermore, from the perspective of retrospection, the second moment of the blue-grasping sense-manifest consciousness is decisive cognition, then does this meaning refer to the first moment of blue, or to the second moment, or merely to blue? If it refers to the first moment, that is unreasonable, because you do not manifest its aspect. If it is not established, it will become the previous thesis of "the moment has passed, and the meaning is not seen." If it refers to the second moment, then it will not be the object you apprehend. If it refers merely to blue, then the first moment of the blue-grasping sense-manifest consciousness will also become decisive cognition merely for blue. Second, according to our own system, in general, the types of consciousness are divided into two: valid cognition and non-valid cognition. The first will be explained below. The second includes: general characteristics, classification by number, and individual characteristics. The first is: non-deceptive consciousness. Some people consider newly arising non-deceptive consciousness to be valid cognition, which is unreasonable, because "newly arising" has no distinction, because decisive cognition is not non-deceptive consciousness. Second, it is divided into three from the way of entering, and summarized into one from the essence. The first is: non-valid consciousness is divided into three from the way of entering: non-apprehension, wrong apprehension, and doubt, because there are three situations: merely not recognizing the object, entering into two extremes of the object, and entering into the object in a reversed way. Because the actions of seeming reasons have no power to recognize the subject, they will generate doubt, and they will grasp in a reversed way. Because "there is no power over the subject, it will generate doubt," and so on. The second is: from the essence, it is summarized into one non-apprehending consciousness, because all three situations are the same in not recognizing the reality of the object. Therefore, it should be known that all three non-valid consciousnesses are non-apprehending consciousnesses from the essence, and both valid cognitions are also self-aware manifest consciousnesses, and the object to be measured is ultimately summarized into one self-characteristic. Third, it includes non-apprehending consciousness, wrong apprehension, and doubt. The first includes two: definition and classification. The first is: its own object is neither this nor that.

The wisdom that is empty of being able to be established. Secondly, from three aspects: not having fully entered one's own object; even if entered, not having exhausted the analysis; even if exhausted, not having attained, (thus producing) the wisdom of non-apprehension. The first case is: like the wisdom of a person who does not understand reasoning, clinging to the three aspects. The second case is: when asked "Is sound permanent or impermanent?", the wisdom that arises to analyze it. The third case is again divided into three, namely: due to the absence of an object to be attained; due to the defilement of the wisdom that attains; due to not being an object of knowledge, the wisdom that is not attained. The first case is: like decisive knowledge. The second case is: like a person whose continuum is defiled by the mistaken habit of clinging to sound as permanent, the conceptual thought in their continuum does not realize that sound is momentary. The third case is: like the wisdom that does not realize the objects of the end of an eon due to place, time, and nature. Mistaken consciousness has two types. First, the definition is: although one's own object appears clearly, or relying on contradictory signs, clinging to one's own object as one thing, it is a wisdom that is harmed by something different from one's own object. Second, the classification has two types: conceptual and non-conceptual mistaken consciousness. The first case is: like clinging to a variegated rope as a snake, this is a mistake about the appearance; like clinging to the present blue as the past blue, this is a mistake about time; like clinging to sea buckthorn and juniper as the same kind, this is a mistake about the object. Non-conceptual mistaken consciousness has two types, like the eye consciousness of seeing two moons is a mistaken eye consciousness, like the consciousness of a clear appearance in a dream is a mistaken consciousness. Doubt also has two types. First, in terms of definition, some people think: "Although clinging to this, it may also be not this." Therefore, they say, the wisdom that clings to this, but may also be not this. This is not reasonable, because the mistaken conceptual thought that clings to sound as permanent, as the subject, should be expressible, because it is the reason for that definition, namely: whatever wisdom clings to sound as permanent, sound may be impermanent. Some people, in order to eliminate it, say "Although clinging to this, it may also cling to the wisdom that is not this." This is not reasonable, because is this referring to one mental entity, or to successive mental entities? If it is the former, then if it is doubt, it should be manifest, because if it is doubt, it should be the definition of the same mental entity. If it is the latter, then the mistaken conceptual thought that clings to sound as permanent, as the subject, should be expressible, because
