Therefore, considering this, it is said in the Treasury of Reasoning: As long as external objects are acknowledged, then it is called the apprehended object. When the knowable enters the mind, the object and the subject no longer exist. Thus it is said. Although it is said that there are two ways of entering, self-character and general-character, the basis of entering is only summarized as self-character. Regarding this, the external object of apprehension is the view of the Sutra School. The Mind-Only School believes that there is no designation of apprehended object. This is the concluding verse. The classification of knowable objects has been well explained. Second, regarding the knowing mind, there are three aspects: definition, classification, summarization, and determining their meaning. First, the definition of mind is awareness, and the definition of knowing is clarity and experience. Some people think that knowing objects is the definition of mind, which is not reasonable. If so, then the object known by the mind must be regarded as the definition of the object, so the understanding of mind and object has the fault of mutual dependence. If the meaning of knowing objects refers to knowing objects different from oneself, then self-awareness does not have objects different from oneself, so there will be the fault of not being mind. Furthermore, knowing objects should not be the definition of mind, because the establishment of objects depends on the mind, and the establishment of mind does not depend on objects. Therefore, the mind can accomplish things, but things cannot accomplish the mind in any way. Thus it is said. Second, from the perspective of objects, there are two types: conceptual and non-conceptual. From the perspective of essence, there are two types: mistaken and non-mistaken. From the perspective of the way of entering, like cutting a tree, there are three types: not entering the object, entering the object, and having entered the object. These three ways of dividing are divided from the perspective of the agent and the action. From the perspective of the subject, they are all summarized as self-awareness. If it is knowledge with dualistic appearance, then self-awareness must be manifest to its own apprehended aspect. If it is knowledge with the disappearance of dualistic appearance, then self-awareness must manifest the disappearance of dualistic appearance to its own essence. Third, there are two aspects: refutation and establishment. The first aspect has two aspects: stating the view and refuting the view. The first aspect has two: general classification and summarization, and detailed explanation of non-valid cognition. First, previous scholars such as Chapa said that all kinds of minds are doubt, wrong knowledge, uncertainty about appearance, decision, thought, and direct perception.

Inferential valid cognition is united with seven factors. That is, that mind cannot hold its own object in a single way, and there are two possibilities: can and cannot. The first is doubt. The second is to hold something that does not match the actual situation of the object, and to hold something that matches it. The first is wrong knowledge. The second is to proceed without contradicting the imputation of the opposite side, and to proceed with contradiction. The first is appearance without certainty. The second is to proceed with the meaning that has already been realized, and to proceed with what has not been realized before. The first is decisive knowledge. The second is to proceed without relying on reasons, and to proceed relying on reasons. The first is inference. The second is to proceed by the power of habituation, and to proceed by the power of reasoning. The first is direct perception. The second is inferential valid cognition. Second, each of the five non-valid minds also has two characteristics and two divisions. First, the characteristic of inference is: the wisdom that newly determines the truth of the hidden meaning without relying on reasoning. The divisions are: inference without reason, inference with inverted reason, and inference with uncertain reason. The first is like the mind that thinks: there is water in the old well of the ancestors. The second is like the mind that holds that what is established is true based on uncertain and unproven reasoning. The third is like the mind that holds that sound is impermanent from the reasoning of what is done, even though the three aspects are uncertain. The characteristic of the mind that appears but is uncertain: the mind that appears the self-characteristic of the meaning without contradicting the imputation of the opposite side. The divisions are: the mind that appears but is uncertain, which has unclear aspects of the object, is not focused, and is possessed by the cause of confusion. The first is like this: in the continuum of the seer, the root appearance of blue is uncertain in the moment of blue. The second is like the eye consciousness that takes form in the state of collecting distinctions. The third is like the eye consciousness that takes the fish bladder in the state where the mind mistakes the fish bladder for silver. The characteristic of decisive knowledge: the wisdom that proceeds in contradiction to the imputation of the opposite side in the meaning that the function of what has already been realized has not been lost. The divisions are direct perception decision.
