There is no victory or defeat, because even if there are flaws, one does not know how to argue and refute, and the distinction between victory and defeat depends on whether the two debaters can destroy each other's pride. In this regard, the *Nyayapravesa* says, "If the respondent understands its entity, it will change; otherwise, neither of the two will become a victor or a loser." It also says, "Even if the debater states a flawed argument, if the respondent does not point out the flaw, then it is unreasonable to determine the manner of defeat, because the distinction between victory and defeat depends on their respective abilities to destroy each other." As it is said. Even if one deceives with lies, deception, and omitted words, one cannot protect the tenets, so there is no victory or defeat. In this regard, the *Nyayapravesa* says, "For the sake of protecting the truth, even the holy ones think that the victors should be defeated by means of deception and so on." If someone says this, it is not right. Because even if one uses fists, slaps, swords, and flames, it cannot be said to be a holy method of protecting the truth. As it is said. Third, it is divided into two aspects: the general manner of defeating and subduing, and the specific determination of the place of defeat. The first aspect is to understand as it is said, "Treat worldly people with robbery and generosity, wanting to defeat and subdue; for those who take and abandon tenets, wanting the defeat and subduing of the holy ones." The second aspect is divided into stating what is reasonable and refuting what is wrong. The first aspect is that the previous debater's place of defeat lies in not stating the limbs of the argument and stating non-limbs, and the respondent's place of defeat lies in not stating flaws and stating non-flaws, there are four situations in total. In this regard, the *Nyayapravesa* says, "Not stating the limbs of the argument, and not stating flaws, these two situations are the place of defeat, are the reasonable place, others are not reasonable." As it is said. The second aspect is divided into refuting the views of the people of the snowy region and refuting the views of the foot-eyed ones. The first situation is that the ancient Tibetans, for the debater, have three situations: not answering what was asked, stating flaws, and stating what was not asked; for eliminating flaws, there are six situations: not eliminating flaws, seemingly answers, stating inappropriate answers, and so on.

In refutation, there are three: not asking questions, asking inappropriate questions, and asking irrelevant questions. In pointing out faults, there are six: not pointing out faults, pointing out what appears to be a fault, and pointing out faults that are untimely. Regarding witnesses, there are three: not distinguishing, distinguishing perversely, and distinguishing inappropriately. The common one is not listening, making sixteen in total, some say. This is unreasonable, because not answering, stating faults, not abandoning faults, and stating what appears to be an answer are all included in the refuter not stating the proof or stating what is not a proof. Stating what was not asked is faultless if it is timely, and if it is not timely, it is included in stating what is not a limb. The refuter promising not to ask questions and asking inappropriate questions is itself cowardice. Asking irrelevant questions, if some people ask after thinking, it is not irrelevant, but if a foolish person asks, it is included in cowardice, and cowardice is reduced to not stating the proof or not pointing out faults. In the *Methods of Debate*, it says: When, after promising to debate, one remains silent due to timidity or speaks other irrelevant words, how does it fall into the category of pseudo-reason? Finally, it is asked: The proof is the nature of making the uncomprehending comprehend, therefore, not stating the proof is the place of refutation. They say so. Other than these are not places of refutation, as it is said: Furthermore, there is no reason to consider the former and latter debaters, other than pseudo-reasons and cowardice, as places of refutation. Because the words of both have already shown everything, therefore, detailed distinctions that are not included in these two would become very excessive, because they would exceed words without differences in merit, so detailed elaboration is meaningless. Establishing the place of refutation on the witness is not their intention, because they say: The two are the places of refutation. Moreover, in some parts of the treatises, there is no mention of refutation regarding witnesses. Secondly, such as "Foot-eyed one, harms the vow or another vow," etc., there are twenty-two refutations.
