If the first is not established, it is because it exists as the ultimate truth. Thesis. If the second is not established, it is because the ultimate cutting intellect, in relation to you, has become the valid cognition that cuts off the ultimate truth, because you exist as the ultimate truth. Furthermore, this dharma, becomes the object of attainment attained by conventional valid cognition, because it is conventional truth. Thesis and pervasion are both accepted. If accepted, then it is possible for conventional valid cognition to attain the reality of the object. Any acceptance, because it is the reality of the object, because it is the perfectly established nature. Thesis. Therefore, "What is the ultimate truth that can function?" This treatise only explains the establishment of the two truths according to the Sautrāntika school, because Yāmarī also explained it in this way, and it explains that self-character and general-character, and the two truths are the same meaning. Regarding the nature of the two truths of the Sautrāntika and Yogācāra schools, the Sautrāntika school believes that all self-characters are ultimate truth, and all general-characters are conventional truth. The Yogācāra school believes that all knowable objects are contained in the three natures, among which the parts that appear as the three distinct aspects of the apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness are the completely imputed, because it is said that "mind and self-nature are not different" and so on. The apprehended aspect and the apprehender aspect that depends on it are other-powered, because it is the consciousness that appears as the apprehended and the apprehender being distinct. The emptiness that is empty of these two is the perfectly established nature, because it is the ultimate reality of the object. Therefore, in the false-aspect Yogācāra school, the completely imputed and the other-powered are conventional truth, and the perfectly established nature is ultimate truth. Fifth, there are two aspects to summarizing the ultimate object of measurement into one self-character: examining whether the object of measurement pervades the self-character, and explaining the meaning that the object of measurement is only the self-character. The first aspect is that some people say: the object of measurement pervades the self-character, because "one's own one characteristic is the object of measurement," and "because what does not exist is not the object of measurement," "if you say it is unique, I also agree," and the Treasure of Reasoning says: "the object of measurement is only the self-character," because it is said so. In order to refute this view, there are two types of evidence: scriptural and logical. The first is: "Direct perception and inference, are the two valid cognitions, the two are the object of measurement," and "because there are two objects of measurement, so there are two valid cognitions," thus enumerating the objects of measurement as two.

It is said in Nyayabindu and Pramanavarttika: That which has an object of reality is a valid cognition, because the definition of a valid cognition is non-deception. Therefore, this also has the definition of a valid cognition, so non-existence is also measurable, which is contradictory. Secondly, the fallacy of not proving the valid cognition of non-existence, the fallacy of the first uncertain inference contradicting, and the fallacy of the intellectual non-affirmation being a non-valid cognition. The first is: there is no valid cognition of non-existence, because it is not measurable. If you admit, then the inference that establishes sound as impermanent by the reason of being produced, whose counter-pervasion is the establisher that harms the permanent, and relies on the permanent, will not exist. The second is: the measurable becomes the contradictory reason for establishing sound as permanent, because any of its aspects that is established as measurable must be impermanent. The third is: the inference that realizes appearance as devoid of inherent existence from the reason of being separate from one and many, becomes a non-valid cognition for the non-affirmation that merely negates truth on appearance. Because it is not a valid cognition for it. It cannot be admitted, because the reason for establishing appearance as devoid of inherent existence from the reason of being separate from one and many is correct. Therefore, in our own system, if it is measurable, then it is not pervasive that it is self-characterized, because on the measurable, the establisher of the definite number of two, self-characterized and general, is mentioned many times in the scriptures. The general characteristic is not measurable, and the tenet that inference is not a valid cognition is the view of the Carvakas, so it is refuted by Dharmakirti. The second is: If one's own nature is the only measurable. Etc., what is the meaning of the unique self-characterized measurable as stated like this? In general, in all those who have or have not entered the system of logic, the famous valid cognition is determined, and by being similar to this, the teacher is established as a valid person, which is the meaning of the occasion, because after determining non-deception, non-error, and clear meaning, it is said below that the Bhagavan who possesses these is the valid cognition itself. For all those who have or have not entered the tenet, the meaning of the famous valid cognition is: As stated in Pramanavarttika: The attainment and abandonment of benefit and non-benefit is preceded by correct decisive knowledge, as shown from this occasion, for the object that can benefit and harm, it becomes the cause of taking and abandoning knowledge. Such a valid cognition, for the object of benefit that should be taken.
