The second answer is: Because, in the view of outsiders, there exists the other-exclusion of permanence, it seems that sound and vase have something in common in the other-exclusion of permanence, so there is no fault. The third answer is: Because sound cannot be the basis for establishing its related pervasion. The reason for taking these three as the basis of dependence is: the knowable dharma is the basis of the pervaded, because just as the cause should be established on the knowable dharma, the establishment or non-establishment of the pervaded depends on whether it is established or not. The similar class is the basis of the following, because just as the cause is established only on the similar class, the establishment or non-establishment of the following depends on whether it is established or not. The dissimilar class is the basis of the reversal, because just as the cause is established on the dissimilar class, the establishment or non-establishment of the reversal depends on whether it is established or not. If it is said that it is the dissimilar class of the correct cause, then it is necessarily pervasive of existence. If it is a correct cause, then the reversal must be established, because the dissimilar class is the basis of the reversal. There is no fault, because when proving that a vase is knowable from a cause that can be consciously made, due to the power of reversing the knowable on the horns of a rabbit, the reversal that can be consciously made, therefore it is taken as the basis of the reversal. Furthermore, these three aspects are the basis of the three aspects, because it is the basis for calculating the merits and demerits of the amount taken as the cause. Second, regarding the classification of causes dependent on this, there are three types: correct causes, similar causes, and thinking about the determination of them. The first has three types: definition, example, and classification of what is indicated. The first has two types: determining the definition, and how it becomes the way of definition. The first, there are three types of refutation, establishment, and abandonment, the first is: The non-Buddhist teacher Container King said, the definition of the correct cause is, the only way that does not agree with others. This is unreasonable, if it is said that not agreeing with others means not agreeing with the knowable dharma, then it will become a non-common uncertain cause. If it is said that it does not agree with the dharma to be proven, then the object of eye consciousness is

The reason for establishing that sound is impermanent becomes a valid reason. If it is considered incompatible with what is to be established, then the certainty of permanence becomes dependent on the certainty of what is to be established. If it is considered incompatible with the knowable, then it does not go beyond the three modes. Some say that the mode of co-presence and concomitance, or the mode of co-presence and contradiction, these two modes are the characteristics of a valid reason, which is unreasonable, because concomitance is included in the special contradiction, so it will become three modes, and merely seeing in the similar side, and merely not seeing in the dissimilar side, concomitance and contradiction cannot be established. The Vaiseṣika school and others say that having a prior view of what one wants to know, having a remaining view of the similar side, not seeing the dissimilar side, not seeing the general, and not contradicting the two valid cognitions, these four modes are the characteristics of a valid reason, which is unreasonable, because if the three modes are established, then not contradicting the two valid cognitions is established, and if contradicting the two valid cognitions, then the three modes themselves cannot be established. Some say that the three modes and certainty, a total of four, and some say that the three modes and the respective certainty, and having a harmless object, a total of five are the characteristics of a valid reason, which is unreasonable, because if the three modes are established, then certainty etc. are established, and if there is no certainty, then the three modes themselves cannot be established. The Caraka school and others say that the three modes and in order to cut off the harm to what is to be established, therefore having a harmless object, in order to cut off confusion with contradiction, therefore being the same number as what is to be expressed, and in order to cut off uncertainty, therefore certainty, these six are the characteristics of a valid reason, which is unreasonable, does the harm to what is to be established refer to the harm caused by valid cognition or does it refer to the suspicion that it will cause harm? If it is the former, then it is the object of exclusion of the correct side, not the object of exclusion of the correct reason, if it is the latter, then it is not a fault in the case of the correct reason, so it cannot be cut off. It is also not necessary to have the same number as what is to be expressed, because if the three modes are complete, then it is impossible not to be confused with contradiction. Does certainty refer to the certainty of the three modes or does it refer to certainty different from this? If it is the former, then it cannot be separated from the three modes, if it is the latter, then it is meaningless as a characteristic of a valid reason. These are from the 'Treasury of Reasoning', the modes.
