It is not that smoke arises from fire, which has become an external object, nor does the mind that appears as fire give rise to the mind that appears as smoke, but rather the capable habitual imprints in the mind-continuum. Having the essence of the heart, in the middle, the mind of appearance is the clarifier, therefore it is said that smoke is from fire. Secondly, from the sign of the clear awakening of the mind that appears as smoke, it is understood that on top of the mind that appears as fire, the mind that appears as fire, which has the power to generate the clear awakening of habitual imprints, can arise. Regarding this, the mind that appears as smoke, having the clear awakening of habitual imprints, the mind that appears as fire is, able to be understood, not the real fire. Then, is it also posited in this way at the time of positing? If, like thinking that apart from the appearance of fire and smoke, no other fire and smoke are established, then the place with smoke is the appearance of fire, because it is the appearance of smoke. If, like thinking that whoever has fire and smoke, and is the nature of knowing it, then the place with smoke has fire, because it has smoke. Teacher Shakya Blo and others think that when inferring external fire, it is present fire, and when inferring the fire of the mind, it is future fire, and if there is no obstacle, it is not deceptive, and the two are the same. Therefore, because it arises from the auspiciousness that can generate the mind that appears as fire, it is said that the mind that appears as smoke arises from fire, not from real fire. Therefore, it is the sign of the result of inferring the cause. Secondly, when establishing self-awareness, Dharmakirti said to establish it with the sign of memory, and the teacher said that the reason for establishing self-awareness is largely established by establishing the two aspects, and as a branch of it, other various reasons are used to establish it, and the three are established by the sign of memory, which should be understood on the text itself. The direct valid perception that measures the manifest, and the direct seeming perception that cuts off the wrong path, and the proof of the effect of the sign made by others, with the meaning of direct valid perception, all can be understood. This is the concluding verse. Direct perception has been explained. The inference measure has been explained. Secondly, inference has two types: self-benefit inference and other-benefit inference. The former has two types: definition and determination of nature. The former, some say,

It is unreasonable to think that the wisdom that realizes what is to be proven arises from the certainty of the power of measurement, because it is necessary to ascertain the three aspects themselves, so the certainty of the power of measurement has the fault of repetition. Therefore, the wisdom that realizes what is to be proven arises from the sign that possesses the three aspects. In the root verses of Pramana, it says: 'The two types of inference, for oneself, are seeing the meaning from the sign with three aspects.' Inference for oneself and inference as measurement are its synonyms, so there is no need for separate definitions. The second part is divided into two: the sign by which one realizes, and the explanation of what is to be proven by it. The first part is divided into two: explaining the four dependencies and the three aspects, and the classification of signs based on them. The first part is divided into three: the basis of dependence for the first aspect is the object of knowledge, the basis of dependence for following and reversing are the two sides, and the reason for establishing them as the basis of dependence. The first part is divided into two: generally considering the meaning of the word to be inferred, and the need to determine the difference in meaning that is relevant to the occasion. The first part is divided into three: the object of entry, the certainty of the occasion of entry, and the definition of the word of how to enter. The first is, in the treatise 'Entering,' it says: 'The side and what is to be inferred, and what is to be established,' etc., are all synonyms, so the object of where they enter is also three, because they enter the object of knowledge, the object to be established, and the meaning of the collection. Entering the object of knowledge also says: 'The side is the object,' 'What is to be inferred is the object with the distinction that is desired to be known here,' 'What is to be established exists on what is in accordance with the object.' Entering the object to be established also says: 'The reason follows what is to be established, if what is to be established is absent, then it is absent.' Entering the meaning of the collection also says: 'By expressing what is to be established, even through transmission, it is not possible.' That is also entering as a nominal name for the first two, entering as a real name for the meaning of the collection, and not entering others other than them, because others other than them are not famous, and fame is the main thing for the certainty of the meaning of the word. The second is, when saying 'side dharma,' is it the dharma of the object of knowledge, or the dharma of the object to be established, or the dharma of the meaning of the collection?
