Then, the first moment of direct perception should be realized, because whatever arises from it is the same as it in having the appearance of blue. If according to the fourth statement, it is not reasonable, because the object has not been realized by direct perception, so it is not reasonable to draw certainty from it. Second, in order to establish the result of valid cognition according to the Mind-Only school, there are two parts: establishing the valid cognition itself and refuting arguments. The first part has three aspects: establishing appearance as mind, establishing mind as momentary, and establishing the moment as partless. First, it is established by the sign of clarity and awareness, and by the sign of simultaneous determination. The first case is: the appearance of blue in the sense consciousness is the subject, it is consciousness, because it is clear and aware. The second case is: the sense consciousness that appears as blue and the appearance of blue in it are both the subject, they are not other substances, because they are simultaneously determined. By the same reasoning, it can be established that what appears to the sense consciousness in its own time is the nature of consciousness, and that there is no external object separate from it. Therefore, establishing the Mind-Only doctrine is based on the position that the aspect is real. If from the position that the aspect is false, what appears to the sense consciousness in its own time is not real in any aspect of external objects and consciousness. Just like someone with blurred vision sees hair, although it does not exist in the thing itself, it appears as a fabrication due to the power of the habitual imprints of beginningless seeing. Therefore, the apprehended aspect is not established as real, and because it is not established, the apprehending aspect that depends on it is also not established as real, and it is believed that only the self-knowing and self-illuminating wisdom that is empty of both the apprehended and the apprehending is truly established. Second, mind is the subject, it is momentary, because it does not depend on other causes of destruction that arise after its own cause, but is destroyed by itself. Third, it is established by refuting parts. There are two aspects to this: stating the position and refuting it. The first view is: some say that all moments have three parts: arising, abiding, and ceasing, and each of these three parts also has three parts: arising, abiding, and ceasing, because they are conditioned phenomena. Therefore, a moment has endless parts, so a partless moment is impossible. Second, there are three refutations: refuting by analysis, refuting by absurd conclusions, and refuting by contradicting the scriptures. The first is: is there a smallest limit of time? If there is, it contradicts the absence of a partless moment; if there is not, then all time is long

Is it because there is no reason? Or is it because there is no eternal reason? If it is the first case, it is unreasonable, because without a short basis of dependence, there is no long that depends on it. If it is the second case, then all instants contradict the three of arising, abiding, and ceasing. Moreover, if it is examined whether it becomes shorter or not after division, it is also unreasonable. Are the arising, abiding, and ceasing of an instant shorter than the instant? If it becomes shorter, it contradicts the indivisibility of the instant. If it does not become shorter, then these three are not the earlier and later parts of the instant, because it does not become shorter relative to the instant as the basis of division. Moreover, if one examines substance, cause, ability, and unobstructedness, it is also unreasonable. Is the substance, cause, ability, and unobstructedness with or without parts of an instant? If it is without parts, it contradicts the absence of an indivisible instant. If it is with parts, then the first instant of substance, cause, ability, and unobstructedness will not become a substantial cause, because between it and the result, it is interrupted by the later instant of substantial cause. The second case is that it is impossible for there to be only one instant, because all instants have the nature of three. If it is admitted, then there are no three instants, because there is no one instant. Furthermore, a kalpa and an instant are equal in length, because they are the same in infinite parts. If it is a thing, then it must be permanent, because if it is a thing, it necessarily exists between the three of arising, abiding, and ceasing. Does the present instant exist in its own second instant? Or does it not exist? If it does not exist, it contradicts the absence of an indivisible instant. If it exists, then it becomes permanent. Therefore, to think that there is no indivisible instant is simply not understanding Dharmakirti's logic of direct perception. The third is that it contradicts what is said in the Pramāṇavārttika, "In the final stage, there is no complete change, therefore an instant has no parts." The second part has three points: refuting the debate about phenomena being mind, refuting the debate about mind being instantaneous, and refuting the debate about instants being indivisible. The first point has two points: refuting the debate about atoms and consciousness being simultaneous, and refuting the debate about true and false, delusion and non-delusion being unreasonable. The first point is that if the indivisible of the atom's direction and the indivisible of the instant of consciousness are non-dual and the same, then the six simultaneously...
