It is like this, from the perspective of being able to refute and not being able to refute, there are seven similar correct and seven correct ones. As it is said, for these fourteen faults, if both the reason and the pervasion are not established, then one is blamed for both not being established. If only the reason is not established, then one is blamed for the reason not being established. If only the pervasion is not established, then one is blamed for the pervasion not being established. If both are valid cognition, there is no refutation to the proposition, both are commitments, there is no refutation to the proposition, the reason is valid cognition, the pervasion is commitment, there is no refutation to the proposition, the reason is commitment, the pervasion is valid cognition, there is no refutation to the proposition, these four are blamed for being accepted, so they are seven similar ones. Both are valid cognition, there is a commitment's refutation to the proposition, both are commitments, there are two refutations of valid cognition and commitment to what is accepted, the reason is valid cognition, the pervasion is commitment, there are two refutations of valid cognition and commitment to what is accepted, the reason is commitment, the pervasion is valid cognition, there are two refutations of valid cognition and commitment to what is accepted, these seven cannot be refuted by answers, so they are correct. The third is, six and a half cannot produce, half of the seventh can produce, as it is said, both the reason and the pervasion are valid cognition, the consequence with the addition of the commitment's refutation to the proposition, the pervasion is valid cognition, the reason is commitment, the consequence with the addition of the commitment's refutation to the proposition, these two cannot produce the correct proof, because if it is a self-nature syllogism, then the property of the subject is not established. Both the reason and the pervasion are two correct consequences established by commitment, the reason is valid cognition, the pervasion is two correct consequences established by commitment, these four cannot produce the correct proof, because if it is a self-nature syllogism, then the pervasion of the former two is uncertain, and the pervasion of the latter two is contradictory. Therefore, for the seventh, for example, sound is committed to be permanent, the consequence established by the subject of the property of the dharma being valid cognition can produce the correct proof, for example, the permanent sound is committed to be permanent, the consequence established by the subject of the property of the dharma not being valid cognition cannot produce the correct proof, so it is said. Second, refuting it, divided into refuting the four root divisions and refuting the fourteen branch divisions, first is: because self-nature is also the same, because the reasonless pervasion is contradictory, because it is impossible to determine the subsequent cut-off, so it is divided into four consequences.

It is unreasonable. It is said that it is reasonable to classify the root divisions of the Svātantrika syllogism into four categories, such as the non-establishment of both the sign and the pervader, because it is reasonable to do so for the reductio ad absurdum. If it is said that it is unreasonable to divide the root divisions of the Svātantrika syllogism into two categories, valid and apparent, and therefore into four categories, then it is equally unreasonable to divide the root divisions of the reductio ad absurdum into two categories, valid and apparent, and therefore into four categories. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to place the non-establishment of both the sign and the pervader as one of the four root divisions of the reductio ad absurdum, because if the sign is not established, then examining whether the pervader is established or not is the behavior of a fool. If it is said that even if the sign is not established, it is possible for the pervader to be established, then it is unreasonable, because, like the certainty of cutting off the tail, there would be endless possibilities such as half of the sign not being established and half of the pervader not being established. Secondly, it is superfluous to divide the unestablished into two, the apparent reductio ad absurdum that contradicts is cut off, it is a mistake to say that the pervader is established without a sign, therefore there are not fourteen reductio ad absurdums. It is said that it is unreasonable to divide the non-establishment of the sign into two categories, the non-establishment of both the sign and the pervader, because one answer of "the sign is not established" is sufficient for both of them. The apparent reductio ad absurdum that is answered by way of contradicting the pervader is cut off, such as "sound, subject, is permanent, because it is produced," such a valid reductio ad absurdum, the two cannot be refuted by an answer, and that which is apparent becomes apparent because of the reason of being accepted. If it is said that even if the sign is not established, it is possible for the pervader to be established, then it is unreasonable to classify such a flawed reductio ad absurdum, because the valid and apparent reductio ad absurdums are established by way of being able to be refuted and not being able to be refuted by an answer, and after being refuted by the answer of "the sign is not established," to say that it is possible for the pervader to be established is like saying that it is possible for a lifeless being to have other senses complete, which is an obvious mistake. Secondly, there are two types: definition and division. The first is the definition of a valid reductio ad absurdum, which is a statement of reductio ad absurdum that is able to refute the faults of the opponent's tenets by way of throwing out unwanted consequences from the sign that has been accepted. A valid and unerring reductio ad absurdum that does not throw out the proof is a sign.
