It is integrated into one unawakened mind, because all three are equally unawakened to the reality of the object. Therefore, know that all three non-valid minds, in terms of their essence, are unawakened minds, and that both valid cognitions are self-cognizant direct perceptions in their own essence, and that the object to be measured ultimately merges into one self-characteristic. Third, there are three types: unawakened mind, wrong knowledge, and doubt. First, unawakened mind, divided into definition and classification. First, the definition: it is a consciousness that is devoid of the realization of its own object as either that or not that. Second, the classification: there are three types of unawakened minds: those that have not entered into their own object at all, those that have entered but the analysis is not complete, and those that are complete but have not been found. The first is like the mind that holds the three modes of reasoning in the mindstream of a person who does not know logic. The second is like the mind that analyzes whether sound is permanent or impermanent when asked. The third is: because there is no object to be realized, because the mind that realizes is corrupted, and because it is not an object of knowledge, there are three types of minds that have not been found. The first is like cutting consciousness. The second is like the consciousness of a conceptualizer in the mindstream of a person whose mindstream has been corrupted by the cause of delusion that holds sound to be permanent, and who does not realize the momentariness of sound. The third is like the mind that does not realize things that are obscured by place, time, and nature. Wrong knowledge is divided into two types. First, the definition: it is a consciousness that, although its own object appears clearly or relies on contradictory signs and holds its own object to be one-sided, is harmed by something other than its own object. Second, the classification: there are two types of wrong knowledge: conceptual and non-conceptual. The first is like mistaking a patterned rope for a snake, which is a confusion of appearance; like mistaking the present blue for the past blue, which is a confusion of time; and like mistaking the shapa tree and the fir tree as the same kind, which is a confusion of object, there are three types. Non-conceptual wrong knowledge: like the eye consciousness that sees two moons, which is a confusion of eye consciousness; like the consciousness that appears clearly in a dream, which is a confusion of mind consciousness, there are two types. Doubt is also divided into two types. First, the definition: some people think that even if they hold it, it may not be that. It is unreasonable to say that the mind that holds it may not be that, because the wrong conception that holds sound to be permanent is the subject of the proposition, because it has that definition, that is, sound is permanent.

Whatever thought that clings to sound as impermanent, some people, in order to cut it off, say that it is unreasonable to say that clinging to this but possibly clinging to non-this is a thought. Is this in terms of one entity of mind, or in terms of prior and later minds? If according to the former, then if it is doubt, it necessarily pervades being manifest. If it is doubt, then it must be the characteristic of one entity of mind. If according to the latter, then the wrong conception that clings to sound as permanent in an absolute way is the object to be signified. Because that is the characteristic, whatever thought that clings to sound as permanent, later it may become clinging to sound as impermanent. One's own system is, clinging to this, but the function of clinging to this has not diminished, it is a conception that may cling to non-this. Secondly, the division is into manifest and latent. The first is, that in which doubt actually enters, such as, after performing a fire offering, will one attain heaven or not? Such a thought. The division is into clinging equally and clinging mostly. The first is, the thought of whether sound is permanent or impermanent. The second is divided into changing meaning and not changing meaning. The first is, the thought of whether sound is permanent or impermanent, mostly thinking that impermanence is greater. The second is, the thought of whether sound is permanent or impermanent, mostly thinking that permanence is greater. The second latent one is, like a seed in a box, it will turn into two ends when it meets with conditions, like relying only on a vow, is there water in the old well of the ancestors? Or is there no water there? And all thoughts that rely on uncertain signs are like that. Someone says, the thought that sound is permanent from the sign of being made should be doubt. Because the thought that sound is permanent from the sign of being measurable is doubt. The answer is, there is no fault. Because the thought that sound is permanent from the sign of being made can be refuted by showing a valid cognition that contradicts the common basis of being made and permanent. But the thought that sound is permanent from the sign of being measurable cannot be refuted by showing a valid cognition that contradicts the common basis of being measurable and permanent, because for it, there is no valid cognition that can show contradiction. If you say, if the measurable is a correct sign that establishes sound as permanent, then it can be refuted by showing a valid cognition that contradicts it. The answer is, it is not reasonable. Because the measurable is not a correct sign about that.
