Among the three types of certain wisdom, the first is: Like the direct perception of the root consciousness apprehending blue for those with the present-moment-seeing school, it appears as blue for a moment but is uncertain. The second is: Like the eye consciousness apprehending form when the mind is withdrawn inward. The third is: Like the eye consciousness apprehending fish scales when one mistakes them for silver. The definition of determination: It is the wisdom that engages in opposition to the superimposition of wrong views on a meaning that has been previously realized and whose function has not diminished. Its divisions are: direct determination and inferential determination. The first is: Like the second and subsequent moments of the direct perception apprehending blue. The second is: Like the certainty that arises after direct perception, and the recollection that arises after inference. Doubt and misconception are largely similar, so they will be explained in the section on our own system below. Secondly, refuting it involves three points: refuting the nature of conceptual thought itself, refuting that which appears but is uncertain as non-valid cognition, and refuting that determination is a non-valid cognition other than non-apprehension. The first of these has two aspects: a general refutation and a specific refutation. The first is: Does the conceptual thought that ascertains sound as impermanent rely on the mere statement of a reason, or does it not rely on it? If it is the second, then it entails that the subject is doubtful, because it is a conceptual thought that grasps only the assertion without relying on either experience or reason. If it is the first, does it rely on a valid reason or on a seemingly valid reason? If it is the first, then it entails that the subject is valid cognition, because it is a wisdom that newly realizes a hidden truth based on a valid reason. If it is the second, then it entails that the subject is not a non-valid cognition that is other than non-apprehension, distorted apprehension, and doubt, because it is a cognition that relies on any of the three seemingly valid reasons. The second has three aspects: refuting causeless conceptual thought, refuting conceptually distorted reasons, and refuting that knowledge based on scripture is conceptual thought. The first is: The thought that there is water in the old well of our ancestors is not causeless conceptual thought, because it takes seeing water being drawn previously as a reason. The second is: All cognitions that rely on uncertain and unestablished reasons are conceptual thought, because the reason is dis

Because the inverted conceptual thought is a conceptual thought. Third, if it is said that the wisdom arising from hearing based on scripture is a conceptual thought, it is unreasonable, because scripture has three types: scripture that has an establishing function, scripture that has a harming function, and scripture that has neither a harming nor an establishing function. The mind that ascertains its own object of attachment based on the first type is included in the category of valid cognition. The mind based on the second type is included in the category of wrong knowledge. The mind based on the third type is included in the category of doubt and non-apprehension, respectively, depending on whether the object of attachment exists or not. Second, refuting the view that appearance is not definite: If direct perception is valid cognition, it is not pervasive, because if direct perception is appearance but not definite, it is pervasive, because it is impossible for direct perception to ascertain its own object. Third, refuting the view of decisiveness: The decisive cognition that ascertains blue, which arises after the direct perception of grasping blue, is not reasonably established as the fourth non-valid cognition that is not included in any of the three non-valid cognitions, because it is a non-apprehending cognition, because any cognition that enters into an object that has already been grasped by its cause, the previous valid cognition, does not perform the function of understanding it. Specifically, the second moment of the direct perception of grasping blue is not reasonably a decisive cognition, because decisive cognition and the nature, object, time, and manner of grasping are contradictory. Second, in one's own system, in general, there are two types of minds: valid cognition and non-valid cognition. The first will be explained below, and the second has three aspects: general definition, classification and collection of numbers, and individual characteristics. The first is: knowledge that is not non-deceptive. Second, there are two aspects: classifying into three from the perspective of the way of entering, and collecting into one from the perspective of nature. The first is: that non-valid cognition has three types from the perspective of the way of entering: non-apprehension, misapprehension, and doubt, because there are three types: merely not apprehending that object, entering into two extremes with respect to it, and entering into it in a reversed manner, because the action of a seeming reason is certain to have three aspects: not having the power to understand the subject, generating hesitation about it, and grasping it in a reversed manner, because it is said, "Without power over the subject, it generates hesitation." From the perspective of nature,
