Some say that as a true subject, in the case of the similar class, it is the concordant side, in the case of the contradictory sign, it is the discordant side, and in the case of the uncertain, it changes accordingly. This is unreasonable, because all establishment and refutation take place in consciousness, and there is a third category in consciousness, and it would be a fallacy that the audible sound is the concordant side of impermanence, and it would be a fallacy that neither the concordant nor the discordant side is established, and it would be a fallacy that the way the sign depends on the side is also necessarily one of the two, etc., due to various reasons. Scripture also contradicts it, as it says in the Pramāṇaviniścaya: "Such a sound is the side itself, and not just any of the sides that are in accordance with the side, because it contradicts discrimination and unique determination." This scripture shows the basis for examining whether the knowable subject and the to-be-established dharma are empty or not, and the necessity for the proponent who has become the sign in the concordant side to determine that it is not empty of the to-be-established dharma, and for the discordant side to determine that it is empty of the to-be-established dharma. Secondly, there is a third category that is neither concordant nor discordant in the side that is the basis of the three aspects, because it is imputed by the knowable subject, and it is not uniquely determined, so it is the third category, and because the side indicated by the meaning of the words "concordant side" and "discordant side," and the three sides indicated by the meaning of the words "property of the side" are the respective bases of the three aspects. Therefore, the definition of the concordant side is: when the proponent who has become the sign, according to the way of establishing, with the certainty of possessing the to-be-established dharma, gives rise to a mind that exclusively grasps the to-be-established, it is permissible to consider the subject of dispute and the general meaning of the to-be-established dharma to be in agreement in meaning. The definition of the discordant side is: when the proponent who has become the sign, according to the way of establishing, with the certainty of being empty of the to-be-established dharma, gives rise to a mind that exclusively grasps the to-be-established, it is permissible to consider the subject of dispute and the general meaning of the to-be-established dharma to be in disagreement in meaning. If divided, there are the concordant and discordant sides of the valid sign, and the concordant

Two dissimilar aspects, first: Definition of the similar side of a valid reason: When the proponent, acting as the reason, in accordance with the method of establishing, from the certainty of not being empty of the dharma to be established, arises a subsequent cognition that realizes what is to be established, the general meaning of the subject of debate and the dharma to be established can be determined to be consistent. Definition of the dissimilar side of a valid reason: From the certainty of being empty of the dharma to be established, the general meaning of the subject of debate and the dharma to be established can be determined to be inconsistent. The rest is the same. Divided into: the similar and dissimilar sides of a valid reason in the case of self-interest, and the similar and dissimilar sides of a valid reason in the case of other-interest. First: Without relying on a valid statement of proof, when a subsequent cognition arises from a sudden reason that realizes what is to be established. The rest is the same. For the latter, replace "when the proponent acts as the reason" with "the opponent at the appropriate time." The rest is the same. Definition of the similar side of a seemingly valid reason: When the proponent, acting as the reason, in accordance with the method of establishing, from the certainty of not being empty of the dharma to be established, arises an invalid cognition that exclusively clings to what is to be established, the general meaning of the subject of debate and the dharma to be established can be held to be consistent. Definition of the dissimilar side of a seemingly valid reason: From the certainty of being empty of the dharma to be established, the general meaning can be held to be inconsistent. The rest is the same. Divided into two types: the similar and dissimilar sides of a contradictory reason, and the similar and dissimilar sides of an uncertain reason. First, relying on a contradictory reason, when a false conception arises that exclusively clings to what is to be established. The latter, relying on an uncertain reason, when doubt arises that exclusively clings to what is to be established. The rest is the same. If it is thought that exclusively clinging to what is to be established and doubt are contradictory, then understanding the key point of dormant doubt will not be contradictory, which has already been explained in the examination of wisdom. For an unestablished reason, not calculating the similar and dissimilar sides is the secret of the logicians, which can be understood in the case of the nine reasons with the property of the subject. These are also the same when combined with the basis.
