The reasoning for establishing the two ways of the Sutra School and non-acceptance of external objects is: Previously, the opponent, the Mind-Only School, argued against external opponents, specifically those below the Vaibhashika School, because it was necessary to argue against opponents who assert that consciousness is without aspects. The second way is: All cognitions that appear as objects are argued in this way, by denying that what appears at its own time is an external object, and it must be argued as the nature of cognition. The third way is: Merely the two ways of object and subject are not to be argued, because they are already established for the external opponent. Among the two ways of experiencing in the same mind, the aspect of grasping, and the aspect of appearance as an object, the former is not to be argued, because it is already established for the external opponent. Therefore, the latter is to be argued, because the nature of that thing is not established. Because that is also established from correct recollection. Because it is said so. The fourth way is: Master Dignāga said, "Object-cognition is its cognition." And, "Later, also from recollection." The meaning of what is said has two aspects: generally showing the way it is shown in the text, and specifically explaining the difficult points. The first has two aspects: establishing based on the first text, and establishing based on the later text. The first is: It is clear that for the meaning of that text, Dignāga's reasoning has two types, and Dharmakīrti's reasoning has five types, making a total of seven. Because in the old commentary of "necessarily together with mind," the god said, "If that is the case, it is called object-cognition, etc." Because "necessarily with mind," etc., he himself showed other reasonings. And in the commentary of "here also the fault is the same as before," it says, "If it is explained that object-cognition is cognition, etc., then oneself has excellently argued the two ways." Because it is clear that the latter five reasonings are Dharmakīrti's reasoning, and for the meaning of Dignāga's text, Dharmakīrti's reasoning argues the two ways. The second is: It is shown by "also from recollection, self-awareness is established," etc. The second part has four points: identifying the opponent in order to establish the sign of co-occurring determination; determining the nature of the sign to be established; arguing its way; refuting the objections to it.

It concerns the two signs of simultaneous object determination, those that acknowledge external objects and those that do not. The first is the reasoning that establishes the two truths according to the Sautrāntika school. The second is the reasoning that establishes the two truths according to the Cittamatra school. Therefore, both are presented from the perspective of the Vaibhāṣika school and below, because they are presented from the perspective of opponents who believe in non-conceptual cognition. In the second case, the subject of the thesis is: a sense consciousness that appears as an object, and that it appears as an object in its own time is unique. The meaning of the property is as stated in the Pramāṇavārttika: "Blue and that consciousness are not other consciousnesses." And as stated in the Pramāṇasamuccaya: "If the object is other than that, by what aspect will it be established?" Therefore, negating a different substance is the property to be established. Also, as stated in the Pramāṇasamuccaya: "Seeing is what appears blue." And in the commentary on "Due to the delusion of consciousness, two moons appear," Lhasbyor also said: "Whatever is determined when something is determined, that is the same as that." Therefore, being the same substance is the property to be established, the former being in terms of false appearance and the latter being in terms of true appearance. The meaning of similarity is: Some say that the sense consciousness that appears as two moons and the way it appears as two moons in its own time are the same, which is not reasonable, because that itself is the property to be established. Therefore, it means like the appearance of two moons in a deluded sense consciousness. As stated in the Dmigs brtag: "Not a substance, like two moons." And as stated in the Pramāṇavārttika: "Due to the delusion of consciousness, two moons appear." And in its commentary, Lha said: "For example, for someone with a visual impairment, like grasping another moon." Chokchok said: "The two moons are also similar to each other." And in the Rigs gter, it says: "If it is a different substance, there is no proof, like the appearance of two moons." Because only the appearance of two moons is taken as an example. The meaning of the reason, according to false appearance, simultaneous is the appearance of object and time at the same time, object determination is grasping, and certainty is pervasion. According to true appearance, object determination is experience, and the rest is the same as before. Therefore, according to false appearance, any nominal object and subject that appear as different at the same time are pervaded by simultaneous appearance or grasping.
