Because this is for analyzing doubts, there is no need to make intermediate divisions in this text. Therefore, in the view of the Sutra School, for the external object as the object of measurement, with the cognition of meaning as the result of valid cognition, and in the view of the Mind-Only School, for the apprehended aspect as the object of measurement, with self-awareness as the result of valid cognition, and in conventional truth, for the external object as the object of measurement, in conventional truth with the cognition of meaning as the result of valid cognition, after these three are explained, because this result of valid cognition arises, not only is the apprehended aspect as the object of measurement the result of self-awareness, but also for the two that are taken as the external object of measurement, they are established as the result of the cognition of meaning in dependence on the other-aspect of subsequent cognition. If analyzed with the two kinds of intelligence to be explained below, and the reasoning for proving self-awareness, it should be the result of self-awareness. Because this appearance in the own time of sense consciousness is the apprehended aspect that has become the nature of the consciousness itself. As it is said, this also establishes the views of both. Second, combining the object of measurement with both: In the view of the Sutra School, the hidden aspect of external objects is the object of measurement, and in the view of the Mind-Only School, it is reasonable to take external objects as the object of measurement in conventional truth. Because it has been explained before, this also establishes the views of both. Third, combining the word "also" with both: When combined with the Sutra School, it should be combined as "the apprehended aspect as the object of measurement is not only the result of self-awareness, but also the external object as the object of measurement." When combined with the Mind-Only School, it should be combined as "when analyzed with reasoning, although there is no external object, if there is an external object in conventional truth, it is also." Therefore, this also establishes the views of both. Fourth, combining both valid cognitions: When the external object is taken as the object of measurement, the apprehended aspect is valid cognition, which both the Sutra School and the Mind-Only School must acknowledge. Because when the former takes the hidden aspect of external objects as the object of measurement, they consider the aspect established by it to be valid cognition, and when the latter takes the external object as the object of measurement in conventional truth, it must be established as the cognition of meaning in conventional truth, and it can only be established by the apprehended aspect that has the aspect of meaning, and others cannot establish it. Therefore, this also establishes the views of both. Fifth, combining both results: When analyzed, being the result of self-awareness is also the view of both the Sutra School and the Mind-Only School. When the Sutra School takes the external object as the object of measurement, they believe that two ways are established, and self-awareness through establishing two ways.

Because it has already been established. Because it can establish two ways, self-awareness is almost established. Because it is said so. The Vijnanavada school does not have other entities of the grasped and the grasper. If analyzed, there is no choice but self-awareness being the result. Therefore, this also establishes the views of both schools. Sixth, combining both analysis and non-analysis: Whether it is the Sutra school or the Mind-Only school, for the root consciousness, if it is not analyzed when it appears in its own time, it is considered an external object; if it is analyzed, it is considered that consciousness is its own nature, without distinction. The Sutra school believes that for the definite understanding in the continuum of a person who does not understand the difference of the hiddenness of external objects, it is also generally believed that the meaning of external objects is determined. The Vijnanavada school believes that in the face of the definite understanding led by the root consciousness arising from the stable habit, the root consciousness is considered an external object when it appears in its own time. Both consider it as the aspect of the grasped when analyzing. Therefore, this also establishes the views of both schools. Seventh, combining the credible scriptures with both: The objects of the root consciousness previously cited are common, and the scriptures that nominally exist external objects in the Vijnanavada school, and the second way of wisdom to be explained, and the treatises that establish self-awareness, etc., except for whether or not to admit external objects, all the views of the Sutra school and the Mind-Only school are the scriptures that directly show that the valid cognition and result are the views of both the Sutra school and the Mind-Only school. It can be the same as this or different from that. Therefore, it also establishes the views of both schools. What is the same as this means that it is the same as external objects, which is the view of the Sutra school. What is different from that, some explain as different from God, and some ancient people explain as the same as habits, and the meaning seems the same, because it is the view of the Vijnanavada school. In short, gathering all these meanings, the great Sakya Pandita said after explaining the four valid cognitions and results of the two Hearer schools and the true and false Mind-Only school: In this way, among the four schools, the teacher acts like the Sutra school when admitting external objects; when knowledge enters the interior, he accepts the absence of aspects. In either case, ultimately it is the valid cognition and result of self-awareness. As it is said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: When analyzing one's own nature, self-awareness is the result.
