E! When examined with ultimate reasoning, self-awareness has no object, because at that time it is not the object of the apprehended aspect or the apprehending aspect, because at that time the apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness are inseparable in one mind. For example, when examined with ultimate reasoning, on one sound itself, the sign, the property, and the meaning are inseparable, so there is no establishment of what is to be proven and what proves it. In conventional terms, self-awareness has an object in direct perception, because in conventional terms, the apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness can be established as the measure, the result, and the measuring. For example, in conventional terms, on one sound itself, by conceptualization, the three negations of sound, being produced, and impermanence are distinguished separately, and established as the sign, the property, and the meaning, so the establishment of what is to be proven and what proves it is reasonable. Therefore, with regard to the ultimate, in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it says, "Mind and the possessor are not different." And, "The apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness, although existent, are non-existent." The Auto-commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning also says, "Self-awareness has no object." With regard to the conventional, the previous two treatises of the Commentary on Valid Cognition, and immediately after these two treatises, it says, "For those with inverted views, the apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness, possess otherness and become objects of thought." And, "This measuring and, the measuring agent residing as the result, how should it be followed?" etc., many establishments of the object of the apprehended aspect and the apprehending aspect and being the object of measurement are spoken of. In short, in the ultimate, the apprehended, the apprehender, and the awareness, and the measure, the result, and the measuring cannot be established in one mind, but in the conventional, these establishments can be made, if the meaning of these treatises of the Commentary on Valid Cognition is understood, this point will be determined, and other explanations have not seen the essence. Fourth, the direct perception of yoga is, the Sugata said that in all phenomena, the eye of the Dharma is without dust and completely pure from defilements. And in the Sutra on Valid Cognition, it says, "Taught by the master of yogis, only the meaning of what is unmixed is seen." And in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it says, "The knowledge of yoga previously explained, that which arises from their meditation." In order to determine the meaning of what is said, there are three: determining the nature, the way of becoming a measure of the object, and the reasoning of the proof. First, there are three: definition, classification, and thinking about the cause. The first is, one's own uncommon dominant condition.

I, regarding the meaning of purity, rely on the Samadhi that is mainly born from meditation, and have the wisdom that is not confused about the true meaning. Second, from the perspective of the basis, there are three types of manifest yoga: Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Great Vehicle Noble Ones. Among them, from the perspective of learning and non-learning, they are divided into five types, namely, the two types of manifest yoga of Hearers who are learners and non-learners, the manifest yoga of Solitary Realizers who are non-learners, and the two types of manifest yoga of Great Vehicle practitioners who are learners and non-learners. Therefore, from the perspective of with-appearance and without-appearance, they are divided into ten types, because each of the five has two types of manifest yoga encompassed by equipoise and subsequent attainment. Third, there are the causes of the two wisdoms, the time of their completion, and the difference in the results depending on the means. First, the wisdom that realizes selflessness is the substantial cause, and the means, great compassion, is the cooperative cause. Relying on them, the wisdom that knows reality as it is (yathāvad-jñāna) is accomplished, and conversely, the wisdom that knows reality as it exists (yāvat-jñāna) is accomplished. Second, the time when the manifest yoga of Hearers is completed is when diligence is swift, and it is completed in three lifetimes, because it is said in the sutra: "The swift one reaches the end of the three existences." The manifest yoga of Solitary Realizers is completed in one hundred kalpas, because it is said in the sutra: "The rhinoceros horn is the cause of one hundred kalpas." The manifest yoga of the Great Vehicle is completed in three countless kalpas, because it is said in the sutra: "He becomes a Buddha in three countless kalpas." Third, the manifest yoga of Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats does not directly realize all knowable objects, because they have not abandoned the imprints of ignorance, because the means and compassion are weak. The manifest yoga of the Fully Enlightened Buddha directly realizes all knowable objects, because they have abandoned the imprints of ignorance, because the means, great compassion, has been cultivated for three countless kalpas. Thus, it is also said in the sutra: "In various forms, there are many means," and so on, and "Without afflictions and without disease," and so on. Second, regarding how the object becomes valid cognition, some people think that the first moment of omniscience is valid cognition, and the second moment is decisive cognition, but this view is unreasonable.
