Some hold that it takes reality as its object, and some hold that it is not mistaken about the object of apprehension. However, due to the harm of reasoning, our own system is, as stated in the Pramāṇaviniścaya: "Not being deluded by it, such as dizziness, rapid rotation, and entering a boat do not generate delusion." As it says, the causes of delusion such as the senses, objects, and actions do not generate delusion. Then, conceptual thought also becomes non-deluded, because those causes of delusion do not generate delusion? It is not established, from the "etc.", (Conceptual thought completely accomplished from beginningless habit.) and (Those delusions are transformed by the habit of seeing with time that is beginningless.) The cause of delusion mentioned in the context is for the sake of guiding that. Third, then, are both the absence of conceptual thought and non-delusion intended to eliminate dissimilar classes, or are they intended to eliminate wrong conceptual thoughts? In reality, although non-deluded wisdom can eliminate all dissimilar classes, the mention of the absence of conceptual thought is to prevent the wrong conceptual thoughts of materialists and Samkhyas, etc., who believe that sense consciousness and conceptual thought are both non-deluded; and some think that non-delusion about the object of entry can also establish non-delusion, so is inference also non-deluded? It is said for the purpose of eliminating this wrong conceptual thought. Second, there are five divisions of the signified: the basis of division, the nature of what is divided, the reason for dividing, the way of dividing, and the number of divisions. The first is just non-deluded wisdom. The second is the four: sense, mind, self-awareness, and yogic direct perception. The third is, from the perspective of the object, the two direct perceptions of object-consciousness that cognize other objects, self-cognition is self-awareness direct perception, and the cognition without self and other is yogic direct perception. From the perspective of the basis, relying on the senses are the two object-consciousnesses, relying solely on others is self-awareness, and relying on samādhi is yogic direct perception. From the perspective of the individual, the direct perception of ordinary beings and the direct perception of noble ones are two. Fourth, it is not difference that negates sameness, because all four are real things. Nor is it merely that the nature is the same but the reverse aspects are different, because the other three direct perceptions are different entities.

They are not different entities either, because the other three types of direct perception are of the same essence as self-cognizant direct perception. Therefore, the other three types of direct perception are different entities, and these three are of the same essence as self-cognizant direct perception, but they are different in terms of objects. Fifth, the four types of direct perception are the view of the Sutra School, the Vaibhashika School has three, and the Vijnanavada School has two. Some say, literally, that in the Vijnanavada School, since there are no two types of direct perception of sense consciousness and mental consciousness, dividing them into four is only the view of the Sutra School. That is unreasonable, because in the 'Examination of Conditions,' in the view of the Mind-Only School, the three conditions of sense direct perception have been explained, so sense direct perception must be admitted, and if sense direct perception is admitted, then mental consciousness must also be admitted, because it has been explained in the 'Commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning' itself. Some say that the meaning of that text is that it is made in terms of direct perception that is not mistaken about the appearing object, which is also unreasonable, because the two types of direct perception of sense consciousness and mental consciousness, for the appearing object that has become direct perception, the Vijnanavada School must also admit that it is not mistaken. So, what is the intention of this text? If it is made in terms of convention, the Vijnanavada School also admits that the two types of direct perception of sense consciousness and mental consciousness are valid for external objects, but the definite number mentioned here is made from the perspective of examining the ultimate reality. At that time, the two types of direct perception of sense consciousness and mental consciousness cannot become valid for external objects, but will only become self-cognizant direct perception. Therefore, the first three types of direct perception are the same in essence and the same in terms of objects, so they are established as self-cognizant direct perception. And yogic direct perception is valid for the object of reality, so although it is of the same essence as self-cognizant direct perception, it is different in terms of objects. In the view of the Sutra School, all four types of direct perception are different in terms of objects, because self-cognizant direct perception is consciousness, sense direct perception is external objects, mental consciousness is external objects that are different entities from that object, and yogic direct perception is valid for the true meaning, which is made from the perspective of reality. As it is said in the 'Commentary,' the definite number of direct perception is based on the view of the Sutra School, and when external objects are admitted, they are divided into four from the perspective of objects.
