Or is it due to the power of pores being blocked by long-term habituation? Or is it due to the power of inference that infers the existence of fire from the sign of seeing smoke arising? Or is it due to the power of inference that infers the existence of fire from the sign of other arising substances such as the smell of fire? The example for the second case is: in reality, it is a tree, but when doubting whether it is a tree or not, it is like the sensory manifestation of grasping branches and leaves. The other three characteristics can be understood by referring to the previous one. The example for the third case is: some say, such as the auditory consciousness when particularly attached to a beautiful mental image. This statement is not reasonable, because being particularly attached to a beautiful mental image weakens the ability to generate auditory consciousness. Because (the scripture) says: When attached to other things, the ability will be weakened, so the arising of consciousness is not seen. Therefore, it is like the visual eye consciousness in the state of collecting conceptual thoughts inward. For this situation, the other three characteristics can also be understood by referring to the previous one. The third view is: some say that if the measure to be determined and the measure of the determiner are on the same object, then the later measure will become a decisive consciousness; if they are different, it will be established as an object on another object, so it will not be established as another object. Others say: Since the entering object is the same and the appearing object is different, it can be freed from both faults. This statement is not reasonable, because there are three faults: the entering object of the first measure becomes permanent, the later measure becomes a decisive consciousness, and the appearing object and the appearing object have no other meaning, which leads to a violation of the commitment. Therefore, the self-view is: the entering object of the two measures, earlier and later, is the same continuum, but the substances are different, so it can be freed from both faults. Some people think that if the measure of determining others is regarded as a measure, then that measure is not a measure if it does not prevent the superimposition on its own object, and if it prevents it, it will become self-determining. This statement has no fault, because the manifestation of becoming a measure on the object does not depend on preventing superimposition. Some people also think that the self-awareness manifest that experiences the happiness of the Samkhya school, in terms of dharma, the non-deception of oneself to one's own measurable object, must be able to draw out certainty with its own power. Because it is a self-determining measure. If admitted, then the certainty consciousness drawn out by it, the self-awareness of the Samkhya school.

Direct perception is not deceptive with respect to the happiness in that continuum, because of desiring it. If you accept that, then the Samkhya should not be an opponent who desires with a belief in reality, since they do not experience happiness through direct perception. If you say that, then the Charvaka should not be an opponent who desires with a belief in reality, since there is no object to be measured by inference for them. Because the inference in their continuum that cognizes smoke as having fire determines the meaning of the collection of smoke and fire. Similarly, although there is a definite understanding of inference in the continuum of the Charvaka, they do not accept the term "inference," and understanding its meaning is established as definite, which should be understood as the key point here. Fourth, there are two ways in which they make refutation and establishment: the distinction between refutation and establishment, and how they make refutation and establishment after realizing it through valid cognition. The first is the definition of establishment: that which is to be understood as a complete exclusion by the mind. The divisions are two: establishment of appearance and establishment of exclusion. The definition of the first: that which is to be understood as a complete exclusion by non-conceptual awareness. The example is all the self-characteristics that have become its appearing object. The definition of the second: the imputation that is to be understood as a complete exclusion by conceptual mind. The example is all exclusions of other existents. There are two types of negation: the definition of negation, which is divided by the opposite of the establishment of appearance: that which is to be understood as a distinct separation by the mind. The divisions are two: non-affirming negation and excluding negation. The definition of the first: that which is to be understood as a complete exclusion by the conceptual mind after distinctly separating the object to be negated from the negation. This and the establishment of exclusion have the same meaning. The definition of the second: that which is to be understood as a distinct separation by the conceptual mind after distinctly separating the object to be negated from the establishment. This and excluding negation have the same meaning. In the "Treasure of Reasoning, Self-Commentary," the intention of saying that the characteristics of these two, which are separating the object to be negated and projecting or not projecting another dharma, is that separating the object to be negated is also in the aspect of exclusion, and projecting or not projecting another dharma is also in the aspect of exclusion, and the two of refutation and establishment in the aspect of exclusion, and the two of excluding negation and non-affirming negation have the same meaning. Projecting another dharma also has two types: projecting in terms of words and projecting in terms of meaning. The first is like the location of a vase, etc., appearing to the conceptual mind. The second is like a vase appearing to the conceptual mind. Exclusion
