在现量的梵语词汇中,“Prati-aksha(梵文天城体:प्रत्यक्ष,梵文罗马拟音:pratyakṣa,汉语字面意思:直接的-眼睛)”中的“Prati(梵文天城体:प्रति,梵文罗马拟音:prati,汉语字面意思:各个)”是各个的意思,“aksha(梵文天城体:अक्ष,梵文罗马拟音:akṣa,汉语字面意思:眼睛)”是根基的意思,因为依赖于各个根基,所以成为现量。 在比量的梵语词汇中,出现“Anumana(梵文天城体:अनुमान,梵文罗马拟音:anumāna,汉语字面意思:随后的-测量)”,其中的“Anu(梵文天城体:अनु,梵文罗马拟音:anu,汉语字面意思:随后的)”是之后或随后的意思,“Mana(梵文天城体:मान,梵文罗马拟音:māna,汉语字面意思:测量)”是测量的意思,因为在作为所立宗的法成立且关系确定的之后,以测量的意义来衡量所证,所以称为比量,是说和安立二者都存在的方面。

There is the word "is." For a lotus that grows on dry land, it can be established but not spoken. For a frog that grows in water, it can be spoken but not established. Then, why isn't the fourth case, like a tree stump that grows on dry land, where neither speaking nor establishing exists, counted? There is no fault. Because that does not depend on the name "aquatic." Similarly, there are three cases for direct perception and one case for inference. In the Sanskrit term for direct perception, "Prati-aksha (Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रत्यक्ष, Sanskrit Romanization: pratyakṣa, Chinese literal meaning: direct-eye)" where "Prati (Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रति, Sanskrit Romanization: prati, Chinese literal meaning: each)" means each, and "aksha (Sanskrit Devanagari: अक्ष, Sanskrit Romanization: akṣa, Chinese literal meaning: eye)" means basis, because it relies on each basis, it becomes direct perception. Among these, the first two direct perceptions, both speaking and establishing exist. The latter two, can be established but not spoken. For deluded sense consciousnesses, they can be spoken but not established. In the Sanskrit term for inference, "Anumana (Sanskrit Devanagari: अनुमान, Sanskrit Romanization: anumāna, Chinese literal meaning: subsequent-measurement)" appears, where "Anu (Sanskrit Devanagari: अनु, Sanskrit Romanization: anu, Chinese literal meaning: subsequent)" means after or subsequent, and "Mana (Sanskrit Devanagari: मान, Sanskrit Romanization: māna, Chinese literal meaning: measurement)" means measurement, because after the property of the subject is established and the relationship is certain, the object to be proven is measured in the sense of measurement, so it is called inference, which is the aspect where both speaking and establishing exist. Second, refuting misapprehensions about the basis is divided into two: refuting misapprehensions about the basis of direct perception, and refuting misapprehensions about the basis of inference. The first is divided into two: refuting the apprehension of what is not direct perception as direct perception, and refuting the apprehension of what is direct perception as not direct perception. The first is divided into three: refuting the apprehension of confusion about the object, confusion about the time, and confusion about the aspect as direct perception. The first is: some people consider the mind that grasps the light of a jewel as the direct perception of the jewel's self-character, which is unreasonable. Because the jewel's self-character does not impart its own similar aspect from its own side. When analyzing what kind of mind this is, Lha and Shakya consider that inferring the existence of a jewel in that place from the sign of the jewel's light is an inference. The decorator teacher and students consider it direct perception. Chokyong considers it a delusion. Among these three views, the latter is the view of the treatise. First, there is the direct perception of seeing the jewel's light, then there is the delusion of grasping the jewel's light as a jewel, then running to obtain the jewel, thereby seeing the direct perception of the jewel itself, and after the delusion, regarding the object.

Just as inferring the presence of a jewel there from the sign of water droplets on yak hair, determining it to be the light of a jewel, leads to subsequent cognition. Relying on that, when arriving in front of the jewel, the arising of direct perception of seeing the jewel as before, among the many types of consciousness, "Ah, the light of the jewel lamp!" In such an example, the example given is only an illusion. The second case is that some people mistake midnight for noon and dream of a child born at noon, considering the consciousness in the dream to be the direct perception of the child born at noon, which is also unreasonable. Because the child born at noon does not present a similar image from itself. The third case is that some people consider the eye consciousness arising from mistaking a white conch for yellow to be direct perception for the shape of the conch, and the eye consciousness arising from mistaking a tree for walking to be an illusion for the stationary part of the tree, but direct perception for the self-nature of the tree, which is also unreasonable. If the shape of the conch and the self-nature of the tree are direct perception, then the color of the conch and the stationary part of the tree, which are the same in essence as these two, must also be direct perception. Some people also say that the eye consciousness holding a white conch is direct perception for the soft and heavy touch of the conch, and the eye consciousness seeing the color of fire and water is also direct perception for the hot and moist touch of these two, which is unreasonable. Because if the consciousness holding touch is produced, then the body's faculties become meaningless, because the eye consciousness is a valid cognition for touch. So, what is the thought that arises after the eye consciousness sees the color of the conch, "This has this and this touch"? That is not direct perception, because inferring other things from other sources of arising, simultaneous sources of arising, is a subsequent cognition that infers the cause of the law. The second case is that some people mistake the pot behind the door for the pot deep in the warehouse, at which time the eye consciousness holding the pot behind the door is like an illusion of the object. Mistaking the morning pot for the afternoon pot, at which time the eye consciousness holding the morning pot is like an illusion of time. Mistaking the red of the pot for the red of the felt.
