It is not within the realm of... Then, how to establish terms for the foolish? If establishing the gathering of feces etc. as a definition, then whatever the opposite of directly contradictory meaning is established, it is pervaded by being a definition. For example, like a bloated belly. The gathering of feces etc. also establishes the opposite of directly contradictory meaning. This is how it is accomplished. And that itself is a definition, also because whatever establishes the opposite of directly contradictory meaning, the term 'definition' is applied to it, just as the term 'tree' is applied to that which has branches. This is how it is accomplished. Although this analogy is also included, it is easier to understand by distinguishing and stating it separately. Secondly, in the two, refutation and establishment, firstly, some say that the definition of definition is the reason for establishing the object to be signified, which is not reasonable. If so, then the definition of a sign would also become the means of understanding what is to be proven. Some say that it is complete with three existing substances, and these three qualities are generally definitions, not definitions other than their own signified object, and are established on the basis. Some say that the opposite of the meaning of the signified object is established on the basis, both of which are unreasonable, because understanding the definition must rely on the signified object. Secondly, the opposite of directly contradictory meaning is established, and the term 'cutting off direct contradictions' distinguishes different kinds. If one thinks that the signified object and the basis will also become that, then the term 'meaning opposite' cuts off the opposite of the signified object and the basis. 'Established' means the opposite of meaning, that is, the basis on which the mind is established, such as a bloated belly, which is taken without distinguishing between its own characteristics and the meaning of the word. Here, since it is done in the manner of root verses, saying that 'the opposite of directly contradictory meaning is', establishing it as it is, the ability to combine the words 'established in relation to' in all ways emerges. Thirdly, among the three, refutation, establishment, and abandonment, the first is: the ancient Tibetans, if they summarize the faults of definition, are that the self-opposite is not established as a substance, the meaning-opposite changes to another, and it does not exist on the basis. The first is: any definition that is not independently established from its own term, distinguished, just as the definition of a cow is the cow itself, which is its own term, and like the head of a cow, which is the two arrangements distinguished by its own term. The second is, one's own

Although independent in terms, it is not the opposite of the meaning it represents. There are four types: such as using a horse to represent including cows, etc., which is impossible; such as stating a mottled tail as a characteristic of a cow, which is non-pervasive; such as using having a head as a characteristic of a cow, which is over-pervasive; such as using being produced by causes and conditions as a characteristic of impermanence, which is a pervasive reversal of meaning. The third is that although it is independent in terms, it cannot be established on the basis of what is to be represented as it should be. There are four types: not abiding due to contradiction, not abiding due to non-difference in reverse, not abiding due to non-difference in meaning reverse, and not abiding due to non-pervasiveness on one aspect of the subject. Examples are given in order: horse and including cows, etc., cow and merely a living being, but using including cows, etc., to represent a cow. They say so. These are unreasonable, because if these are placed in an argument to find fault, then it is unreasonable to consider the reversal of meaning from the definition to what is represented as a fault, because when representing non-affirming negation with emptiness, if the abandonment of what is to be established is established, then the abandonment of what is to be established would become an impossible reversal of meaning in the term of non-affirming negation. If fault is found without establishing it in an argument, then it is not necessary to not abide on the subject, because it is faultless to establish including cows, etc., as the definition of a cow. It is also not the intention of the scriptures, because it is not mentioned in the Compendium and the Seven Treatises of the Two Ornaments of Reasoning. Second, establishing one's own system: If all the faults of the definition are summarized, they can be summarized into three: non-pervasiveness, over-pervasiveness, and impossibility. All the parts of the three, such as not establishing self-reverse as a substance, that become faults are included in these three. Moreover, the teacher said in the scriptures that the definition of valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure) as "non-deceptive knowledge" eliminates the three faults of non-pervasiveness, over-pervasiveness, and impossibility. Dignāga said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition that the definition of what is to be established as true for others, the five dharmas such as the nature of the entity, also eliminates the three faults of non-pervasiveness, over-pervasiveness, and impossibility. It is said in the Chapter on Meaning for Others that the determination of sound is also included in the three determinations of not possessing, possessing others, and impossibility. Such
