Because it is said, "Whatever exists is a valid means of cognition." If it is not a result that determines existence or non-existence, then it will not become a valid means of cognition. If you say that this contradicts what was said above, there is no fault. This is because it refers to determining by one's own power and determining by the power of others. Second, regarding elimination, there are three: the way it is explained in the scriptures, the way it is explained by the commentators, and the identification of the Sakya school's view. First, in the Sutra on Valid Cognition, it is said that the chapter on the analysis of elimination is complete. In the Commentary on Valid Cognition, in the first chapter, starting from the establishment of the relationship between the sign and the property of the sign of the nature sign, a detailed explanation of the theory of excluding others is given. In the chapter on direct perception, in the context of establishing that universals are not real, and in the context of establishing that direct perception is free from conceptualization, a detailed explanation of the theory of excluding others is also given. In the chapter on the meaning for others, a slight explanation of the theory of excluding others is also given. Second, it is divided into two: the theory of three exclusions of others and the theory of two exclusions of others. The first is the view of Abbot Shantarakshita, Vimuktisena, and Shakya Prabha. Because "the opposite nature does not exist," it is considered the exclusion of others by negation. Because "the wisdom of universals is also false," it is considered the exclusion of others by wisdom. Because "similar things come from other things," it is considered to indicate the exclusion of others by things. Among them, the first two believe that when the conceptual consciousness of grasping a pot takes the pot as its object, the self-character of the pot is the exclusion of others by things, the apprehended aspect of the conceptual consciousness of grasping a pot is the exclusion of others by wisdom, and merely excluding the non-pot aspect is the exclusion of others by negation. The latter believes that since the conceptual consciousness of grasping a pot must take the pot as its object by excluding the non-pot aspect, the part of excluding the non-pot aspect is the exclusion of others by negation, and the imputation of the appearance of the pot is considered the exclusion of others by wisdom, and it is also considered to be expressed by the thing of sound itself. The second is that Dharmakirti says that exclusion is of two types: the exclusion of nature, which is certain to be established, and the exclusion of the object of conceptual thought. In the Nyayabindu, the terms "exclusion of others by negation" and "exclusion of others by imputation" are used, and it is considered that what is identified is merely the exclusion of the non-pot aspect and the imputation of the appearance of the pot.
