Negate with the syllable "གས་". Negate with reasoning that is too extreme. Refute such faults through lineage. First: If it is said that the five "དེ་ཙམ་" of the external world and happiness, etc., are one, therefore they are grasped together. Then, "སྔོ་", etc., and happiness, etc., as the subject, it follows that they are different substances, because they appear as different substances in non-deluded consciousness. Second: For the continuums of many individuals, as the subject, from focusing on one object of the external world, from the habit of wanting or not wanting, it does not become the difference of joy and sorrow, because both happiness and suffering to be experienced are one object of the external world. Third: If it is said that even if happiness, etc., which have become the nature of external objects, do not become the difference of joy and sorrow from habit, but happiness, etc., which have become the nature of consciousness, become the difference of joy and sorrow from habit, therefore there is no contradiction. Then, those five "དེ་ཙམ་" are not happiness, etc., because if it is something to be experienced in the form of joy and sorrow, then it is pervasive with consciousness. Those five "དེ་ཙམ་", as the subject, are happiness, etc., because they are the objects of the consciousness that possesses the nature of happiness, etc. It is pervasive, if the types are different, then it must not be form-holding, if it is said. As the subject, I, the knowledgeable person, am not the holder of all objects, because I am different in type from all objects. If it is admitted, then, that, as the subject, is not the enjoyer of all objects, because it is admitted. This, if the types are different, then the reasoning that it is not form-holding, there is also another necessity, because with the reason that if the types are different, then it is not pervasive with cause and effect, it also eliminates the acceptance of those five "དེ་ཙམ་" as happiness, etc. The happiness, etc., of the external world and consciousness or the great, as the subject, are not the cause that establishes and the effect that is established by it, because the types are different, therefore it is not form-holding. If merely being form-holding becomes cause and effect, then, I, the knowledgeable person and the object, as the subject, become cause and effect, because it is form-holding. Third, negating that happiness, etc., are inanimate, there are two: because it is to be experienced, therefore it is established as mind. Negating that it is experienced by other experiencers. First: That, happiness, etc., as the subject, is internal, because it becomes joy and sorrow from habit. That, as the subject, is the nature of mind, because it is mind

Because it is to be experienced. It is pervasive, because if it is not the nature of what is to be experienced, then it must not be the experiencer of what is to be experienced. The second has two parts: refuting the difference between mind and experience with the reason of non-perception, and refuting two examples that indicate the uncertainty of pervasiveness. The first is: Objection. It is not established, saying that although the self, the person of knowledge, is not the nature of happiness, etc., it experiences happiness, etc., which appear in the mind or the great? Answer: Manifest. Dharmas such as happiness, etc., do not have your appearing mind or great except for having the aspect of experience and the aspect of subsequent memory, because it is perceptible but not perceived. The second has two parts: refuting external examples, refuting internal examples. The first is: Objection. Although the two, mind and experience, are different in meaning, they are mixed, so they do not appear different in the mind, like iron filings and fire dust when an iron block is burned red? Answer: That. It is unreasonable to establish the distinction between substance difference and substance non-difference in things, because if it is not directly perceived as one substance, then it is not one substance, so it is not pervasive. Objection. The direct perception of substance difference is not the proof of substance difference, because the direct perception of substance one is not the proof of substance one. It is pervasive, with reverse pervasiveness as the reason. Charge. There is no reason to establish some things as substance difference and some as substance non-difference, because dust and white, etc., appear as substance difference but are not substance difference, and mind and experience appear as one substance but are not one substance. The second is: When a feeling like happiness arises clearly in the retinue of one consciousness, although suffering, etc., are not perceived as different, they are different, just as the two, mind and experience, are different but not perceived as different? Answer: One. The consciousness of the eye that grasps form, when a feeling of happiness arises clearly in your retinue, although the feeling of suffering is not perceived, the two feelings of happiness and suffering are established as substance difference, because when the feeling of suffering arises in your later continuum, that suffering is perceived as different from the previous feeling of happiness. Fourth, establishing the correct clear appearance, that is, explaining the direct perception of yoga: In the Pramana Sutra, it is said: Taught by the supreme of yogis, only the meaning of non-confusion.
