There are three ways to ascertain the subject matter of direct perception: to correctly explain the nature and the means of proof of direct perception; to explain seeming direct perception in order to avoid confusion; and to explain the means of proof and the result of valid cognition for understanding the object to be measured. The first has four aspects: explaining sense direct perception, which is free from conceptual thought and involves debate; explaining mental direct perception, which possesses three conditions and involves debate; explaining self-awareness direct perception, which establishes the knowable and the knowledge; and explaining yogic direct perception, which establishes correct clarity. The first has two aspects: establishing the characteristic of being free from conceptual thought through reasoning; and refuting disputes regarding the characteristic and what it signifies. The first has two aspects: examining the conceptual thought to be separated and establishing it; and establishing it by applying the implied meaning of the means of proof. The first has two aspects: establishing the separation from conceptual thought associated with names; and establishing the separation from conceptual thought associated with categories and so on. The first has two aspects: stating the means of proof that is justified by reasoning; and refuting the presentation of seeming means of proof. The first has three aspects: if there is no cause for error, it is established by direct perception itself; if there is a cause for error, it is established based on reasoning; and pointing out the cause for error and thereby refuting disputes. The first is: Manifest. Sense direct perception, subject. If there is no cause for error in conceptual thought, then you are free from conceptual thought and are established by the power of self-awareness direct perception, because if there is no cause for error in conceptual thought, then you are free from conceptual thought, and you are necessarily led by your own power by the experience of self-awareness direct perception. It is pervasive, because if association with names is conceptual thought, then it is pervasive that one's own experience of self-awareness direct perception necessarily leads by its own power that one is conceptual thought. The explanation of that itself is: All. That which is not deceptive, the eye consciousness in the state of gathering conceptual thought within, is the subject. It is sense direct perception, because it is a non-deceptive consciousness that arises directly from its own uncommon dominant condition, the material sense organ. Again. Such sense direct perception, subject. You are not conceptual thought, because the ascertainment led by your own experience of self-awareness direct perception does not ascertain that you are conceptual thought. The second has three aspects: establishing the property of the subject; stating the reason; and establishing the pervasion. The first is: One. The self-characterized object that has become the object of sense direct perception, subject. You do not have a universal that is one in substance with you, because you exist at the time of convention, and are different.

In order not to follow at that time. That dharma, you do not have a generality of substance different from you, because the measure of seeing the generality of other substances besides you is not visible. Second, Deṃ (དེཾ་, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). Manifest sensory perception is not a conceptualization that takes the general characteristic as its object, because it is a consciousness that takes the self-characteristic as its object. Third, Khyaṃ (ཁྱདཾ་, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). Self-characteristic, you do not have an actual sound, because you do not have an actual symbol. Universally, if it is the actual object of sound, then it must be the actual object of the symbol. Deṃ (དེཾ་, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). Furthermore, if the actual object of name-combining conceptualization is not the actual object of sensory consciousness, it is because name-combining conceptualization does not clearly manifest its own object. If it is not universal, because when sensory consciousness clearly manifests form, there is a symbol combination of "this is form." Miṃ (མིཾག, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). When the eye consciousness manifests form, the actual object of the conceptualization that combines the symbol "this is form," you are not the object of apprehension of sensory consciousness, because you are the actual expression of sound. Dvaṃ (དབཾང་, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). The object of apprehension of sensory consciousness, you and the actual object of name-combining conceptualization do not have a common basis, if so, then from the sound of "form," in the continuum of the blind, the sensory consciousness that clearly manifests form would arise, which is a fault. 'Breṃl (འབྲེཾལ, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). The actual object of name-combining conceptualization, you are not the object of conceptualization of sensory consciousness, if so, then even without making the symbol of form, merely seeing form would know the symbol of form. The third part has two parts: showing the cause of illusion, refuting the argument. The first part is, Togaṃ (རྟོགཾ, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). A reasonable person, you have a reason to mistake sensory consciousness for conceptualization, because the sensory consciousness that apprehends form and the conceptualization that apprehends form, both enter the same form object simultaneously or sequentially, but because of the reason of rapid entry, you are deluded there. The second part has two parts: the argument and the answer. The first part is, Galaṃ (གལཾ, Devanagari: , Roman: , Meaning: ). The eye consciousness that apprehends form, your own object, form, does not appear continuously, because your own object, the apprehension of form, is interrupted by the conceptualization of apprehending form between previous and subsequent moments. The second part has two parts: seeing continuous interruption is the same as others, different from others.
