This is to explain the removal of the obstacle of non-establishment. The first part has two points: the four meanings conveyed by the four words are shown; the latter two points are explained in detail. The first part is: Om. (Tibetan: ངོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: oṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Om) In epistemology, from the five characteristics that are said to be possessed by the valid proof for the sake of others, the first four words, namely, entity, only, desire, and self, as the subject, show the four characteristics of the valid proof for the sake of others. In order, it is to cover: what is not established by the subsequent opponent; what is not being established as the means of proof; what is desired to be established in the mind; and what is currently to be established that has been promised. The second part has two points: detailed explanation of desire; detailed explanation of self. The first part has three points: showing that what is desired in the mind is what is to be established; if it is not what is to be established, it would be too extreme; in this way, other wrong conceptions are also eliminated. The first part has three points: an example of what is desired in the mind being what is to be established; refuting others' arguments on this; explaining the necessity of showing it in this way. The first part is: Mam. (Tibetan: མཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: maṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Mam) In epistemology, in the characteristics of what is to be established for the sake of others, mentioning the word "desire", as the subject, is necessary. Because even if the opponent does not express it verbally, one can know that what is desired in the mind to be established is what is currently to be established. For example, the eyes of the Samkhya school, etc., as the subject, are done for the sake of others, because they are accumulated. When this is established, the eyes, etc., are done for the sake of oneself, just as that is what is currently to be established. The second part is: Gham. (Tibetan: གཞཾན, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: ghaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Gham) If, because of the word "desire", what the opponent does not want in his mind is excluded from being what is to be established, then the word "self" will become meaningless, if one thinks so. In epistemology, the word "self", as the subject, is necessary. Because it is to eliminate the doubt of whether the meaning of all the scriptures is what is currently to be established. If the opponent thinks that only what is desired in the mind is what is to be established, then all the contradictions will become one because they depend on what is desired in the mind, if one thinks so. Dem. (Tibetan: དེཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: deṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Dem) Accumulation, as the subject, the contradiction that your reason establishes that the eyes, etc., are done for the sake of oneself, will become multiple because of the different ways of expressing it. Because your reason establishes the contradiction about it, sometimes it is expressed from the perspective of the property, sometimes it is expressed from the perspective of the subject, and sometimes it is expressed from the perspective of the difference between the two. This is the view of the Pramāṇavārttika and the Pramāṇaviniscaya.

Saso. Mam. When the Samkhya school arranges it in this way, the proposition that the eyes, etc., serve the self is the subject, you have a way to understand it, because you will become easier to understand when arguing that the eyes, etc., serve the self. The third is, Dem. When the Samkhya school arranges it in this way, the fact that the eyes, etc., serve the self is shown as the proposition at that time is the subject, it is necessary, because when arguing that the eyes, etc., serve the self with the reason of accumulation, there is no subsequent following in the example of the law, and it is to show the fault of contradictory reasons. The second is, Gamla. If the eyes, etc., serving the self is not the proposition at that time, then the accumulation is the subject, your reason for arguing that the eyes, etc., serve others, the proposition at that time is unreasonable, what else is it that the eyes, etc., serve the self? Only the eyes, etc., serve others, the previous debater has no intention, and the later debater does not want to measure. The third has three, establishing the argument including the two as faulty itself, avoiding similar arguments for the correct reason, in that way also establishes other things that are without fault. The first is, Dims. The reasoning that shows the proposition at the time of intention is the subject, the heretics think that the body and mind are one substance to argue, the vase is the subject, it is the accompaniment of either the body of a person whose body and mind are one substance and the vase, because it is a non-lotus substance, like a wall with a vase. Such an argument has no subsequent following in the example of the law, and it is to show the fault of contradictory reasons, because the accompaniment of the body of a person whose body and mind are one substance, that is shown as the established law of the argument. Chim. If the common accompaniment of either the body and the vase is the established law, so there is no fault. Dem. The vase is the subject, you are not the accompaniment of the body, but you say that it is the common accompaniment of either the body and the vase, such words are empty, because you are the accompaniment of the body, you will not be established as the common accompaniment of either the body and the vase. The second is, Gram. Which is the established law to examine, the destruction of sound and the destruction of the vase, if arguing the destruction of sound, there is also the same fault as before, if you say so. Mam. The made is the subject.
