Because it is impossible to establish the appearance of the object seen, because you are an opponent who has already established it and does not forget it. Then what needs to be established? This dharma, as far as you are concerned, needs to establish that the appearance that appears in the consciousness at its own time is the self-nature of consciousness, because you are an opponent who believes that there is no appearance in the consciousness that has become the self-nature of consciousness. Then how is that established? The object-appearing consciousness, at its own time, experiences the respective appearances that become its own nature, because the respective appearances that become its own nature at its own time are remembered by subsequent recollection. Second, རཾང་. If the appearances of the objects do not appear separately and are not experienced as such, then, the object-appearing consciousness, it should follow that blue, yellow, etc. cannot be remembered by subsequent recollection, because there is no experience of the appearance of blue, yellow, etc. at its own time. This dharma, it should follow that blue, yellow, etc. cannot be distinguished as different, because the appearances of blue, yellow, etc. do not appear differently. It is pervasive: merely experiencing cannot distinguish the differences between blue, yellow, etc. Second, explaining the reasoning for establishing self-awareness has three parts: establishing self-awareness with the reasoning of the sutras mentioned earlier; establishing self-awareness with the reasoning of creating treatises; and establishing self-awareness again with the reasoning of the sutras. First, ཚུལཾ. The reasoning of establishing the two reasons stated by the teacher is that self-awareness is established incidentally, because the self of the mind appearing as the object of perception is truly established. Second, there are four: establishing by experiencing the object of perception as self-nature; establishing by examining the clear appearance of white, etc.; establishing by negating that the self-mind is non-manifest; and establishing by negating that others experience the experiencer. First, there are two: establishing the reason for establishment; refuting other answers. First, རཾང་. The object of perception that has become the self-nature of the mind, if you establish it, then self-awareness is established, because if you establish it, then the grasper and the grasped are established as one. Second, there are three: showing that there is no experience when the object of perception ceases; contradicting direct perception if there is no self-experience; and harming by implying that there is no experience of other objects. First, even if the two reasons are established, self-awareness is not established, because the previous mind is experienced by the subsequent mind, if you say so, དེཾ. Mind

Oh, the subsequent subject, does not experience the previous consciousness, because the previous consciousness has ceased to exist at your time. Therefore, that subject, does not experience any object, because it does not experience its own nature. The second is, Dom. The consciousness that experiences the appearance of an object, that subject, is a consciousness that looks outward, because it is a consciousness that experiences other objects besides itself. Cannot agree, because it is a consciousness that only faces inward. The second has two, establishing the thesis, refuting faults. The first is, Yam. The consciousness that appears as an object, that subject, does not experience the object nominally, because it does not experience the apprehended aspect that has become its own nature. The second has five, refuting the establishment of experiencing similarity, refuting the establishment of experiencing consciousness similarity, examining the aspect in the meaning of similarity and refuting, refuting the establishment of experiencing birth similarity, refuting the establishment of having definite experience. The first is, Gamla. Not pervasive, because from being similar to the object, it is established as nominally experiencing the object, if you say so, the two twins who are similar, the subject, mutually experience nominally, because they are mutually similar. The second is, Gamla. Is the similarity that has become the nature of consciousness the establishment of nominally experiencing the object? If you say so, the one that has become the nature of consciousness and is similar to the object, the subject, you cannot establish nominally experiencing the object, because you are the apprehended aspect that has become the nature of consciousness. The pervasion is accepted. Dem. The apprehended aspect that appears as the object itself, the subject, is not to establish the aspect similar to the object, because it is truly experiencing its own nature. The pervasion is accepted, because being similar to the object is the establishment of experiencing the object. If so, is it contradictory that the consciousness that appears as an object is called experiencing the object? If you say so, Rang. The consciousness that appears as an object, the subject, is not contradictory to being called nominally experiencing the object, because experiencing the apprehended aspect that has become its own nature is nominally called experiencing the object. Lom. The consciousness that appears as an object appearing in its own time, if that is not an external object, then there will be no valid cognition that establishes the external object. If so, then there will be no valid cognition that establishes the external object, because the consciousness that appears as an object appearing in its own time, that is not the aspect of the object. Gamla. Consciousness itself
