Therefore, even if hearing sounds has intervals, it should not be considered that they can be connected without interruption, because the statement that "due to rapid entry, they are connected without interruption, and this is the same in other situations" has already been negated. The second part has four points: If delusion arises due to rapid entry, it would be too extreme; if connected through the senses, it would become inverted cognition; the act of connecting is not the sense consciousness itself; refuting the very basis for connecting through concepts. The first point is: If sense consciousness sees colors, sounds, etc., with intervals, but this consciousness mistakenly believes that there are no intervals due to its rapid entry, then even if two short letters like "A" and "I" are spoken, the auditory consciousness that hears them will mistakenly believe that there are no intervals in between, but rather that they occur simultaneously, because of the rapid entry. The second point is: Furthermore, when hearing letters, is the imputation of no interval to consciousnesses that have prior and subsequent intervals done by the sense consciousness itself, or by another consciousness? If it is the former, then even though the sense consciousness sees things in a way that they are experienced as being separated by intervals, it is not permissible for the sense consciousness itself to impute that there is no interval, because there is the fault of being too extreme. For example, all sense consciousnesses would become inverted, because they themselves experience intervals, but impute that there are no intervals. The explanation of this is that the nature of letters, even the shortest "A," has multiple parts of prior and subsequent moments, because it exists for the duration of a blink of an eye, and it cannot be shorter than that. And a blink of an eye is also completed by gradually accumulating multiple atoms in one position. The time it takes for one ultimate atom to move from its original position to another position is the smallest time, which is the ultimate moment. Therefore, the auditory consciousness will also gradually recognize the various parts of the letter, because the auditory consciousness that grasps the prior and subsequent parts of the letter arises and ceases with the ultimate moment. Therefore, all sense consciousnesses that grasp letters and colors, etc., will become those with inverted meanings, because when grasping their own objects, there is another consciousness that experiences the intervals.

Because the earth, although interrupted, appears to be a consciousness without interruption. Third, although the sense consciousness is interrupted before and after, the illusion of appearing without interruption is that the sense consciousness, although an illusion, does not mix the before and after. Therefore, from other than the sense consciousness, that is, other consciousnesses, the moments of things that are interrupted before and after are considered "this is it," and the mind that combines and mixes without interruption is Dharmic. It is conceptual, because it does not represent the difference between the moments of things before and after, that is, there is no recognition, so it is a memory with the cause of illusion. Therefore, for that conceptual thought, it is Dharmic. How can the sense consciousness appearing in the middle of long letters, etc., be? It is not, because it is related to speech and follows, that is, it grasps by combining name and meaning. This is pervasive. Because it has already been said that the meaning taken by the sense consciousness that clearly grasps letters, etc., is not actually combined with sound, so it is said. Fourth, there are three points: object consciousness is not interrupted, there is no harm. After examining the meaning of the damaging scriptures, it is explained elsewhere. In this way, the recognition of being manifest is denied. First, if the sense consciousness sees the object through the interruption of other perceivers, but the subsequent conceptual thought combines without interruption, then the object form, etc., is Dharmic. From where does the consciousness you grasp, which is interrupted and produced by other perceivers, come from? It is not, because you and its feeling, that is, the consciousness you grasp, appear continuously, and there is no harm to the supreme reason that exists as it appears. Second, if it is not established that there is no harm, because the mind that sees the object does not have self-awareness, it must be recognized by other minds, and those will not arise simultaneously, because each previous mind must have the ability to produce each subsequent mind. If asked, from which valid cognition is it established that multiple minds do not arise simultaneously? The answer is, because multiple minds are not seen simultaneously. Then, not seeing multiple minds simultaneously is itself Dharmic. It is not the reason for not having multiple minds arising simultaneously, even if interruption is possible, but not seeing the interruption, just like this, although multiple minds arise simultaneously, they are not seen, this is what should be examined.
