It is unreasonable, because just as there are many obscuring dust particles, the obscured appearances are not thin, but extremely numerous. Furthermore, if one sees a place clearly because it is close, then something that is very close, like a vase pressed against the eye, should have a clear appearance of the place, because the appearance is very clear. Secondly, if one thinks that the meaning of near and far is seeing clearly or unclearly, and that there is no seeing in that, but that depending on karma of dharma and non-dharma, various clear and unclear forms arise anew from a form that has existed from the beginning in one of clarity or unclearness, and that they are seen separately because they are located near and far, then do those newly arisen forms obscure each other or not? If they do, then those forms should be obscurers of the appearance to the consciousness of their own objects, because they obscure each other. If you accept that, then for the consciousness of a person looking at the same object from near and far, the newly arisen forms should not appear, but only the original form that exists in one of clarity or unclearness should appear, because that form is capable of appearing, and there is an obscurer for the appearance of clear and unclear forms. If you think that those forms born of karma do not obscure each other, then two people looking at the same object from near and far should simultaneously see the clear and unclear nature, because the clear and unclear forms have no obscurer and are each capable of appearing. If you think that invisible karma obscures one of clarity or unclearness and prevents it from being seen, then what does the karma that you do not see do to the mere clear and unclear forms? Because it is not the result of karma of dharma and non-dharma, because in the continuum from which you are born, there is no effect of benefiting meaning or harming non-meaning. Thirdly, if there is no aspect of the object, then it is unreasonable for the object to appear clearly or unclearly from the difference of appearance and karma, therefore, when the object is accepted, the experience that arises depending on the object should also be clear or unclear, like the cause of awakening habitual patterns, etc.

Some (bad sects) hold various different appearances. For those who hold various different appearances, even if there is no remaining appearance of meaning, they hold the meaning as clear or unclear due to the differences in appearance and function, etc. This is a bad reasoning for bad sects. Seventh, the object of grasping has ceased, but the appearance still exists. To prove this, there are two parts: proving that the object has ceased but the appearance exists; refuting the views of others regarding the appearance of external objects. The first part is: the moments (instants) of consciousness, sound, and light, etc., are the subject of the proposition. For what reason will they truly appear clearly to the direct perception and conceptual consciousness that are focused on themselves, and will not fail to appear? Because at the moment of the direct perception and conceptual consciousness that are focused on themselves, they have already ceased and do not exist. Because the direct perception focused on itself and the other conceptual consciousness are the generators of these, therefore they arise before these consciousnesses. Therefore, even though the object has ceased, because the mind itself appears as the aspect of the object, it is established that the mind has the aspect of dualistic grasping. The second part is divided into two parts: refuting the appearance of the simultaneous object itself; refuting the appearance of the generator itself. The first part is: if it is said that the previous objects do not exist at the moment of consciousness, therefore they do not appear, but those objects that arise together with consciousness from the previous objects will appear clearly in the consciousness. Then, the object simultaneous with consciousness is the subject of the proposition. It is not reasonable to become clearly apparent in consciousness. Because they are other objects that do not benefit consciousness. If the pervasion is not established, then for one consciousness such as auditory consciousness, it is also the subject of the proposition. All objects will become clearly apparent. Because other objects that do not provide benefit will also appear clearly. If it is said that the simultaneous object is the subject of the proposition. Even if it does not provide benefit, it will definitely appear in the simultaneous consciousness. Because the reason is that it and consciousness arise together from the previous object. Then, since the simultaneous object and consciousness arise from one cause, the conceptual thought that they are object and subject is also the subject of the proposition. It is unreasonable. If it is reasonable, then the sense consciousness that arises together with consciousness from the previous sense faculty will also become the object of consciousness. Therefore, for the sense consciousness produced by the previous object, it is the subject of the proposition. Even though the previous object does not truly appear, it should be said that the previous object is clearly apparent, because it appears as the aspect given by the previous object.
