Because of experiencing it that way and remembering it that way later. In that case, the consciousness that manifests things, in terms of this, the aspect taken from these two aspects is the object to be measured, the grasping aspect that completely cuts it off is the valid cognition, and the self-awareness that experiences it is the result, because it is a consciousness with two modes. Here, Lha (deity) said "the first fruit perception", which refers to the view of the Vijnanavada school. Second, there are three ways to explain the valid cognition and result of conceptual understanding of things: the actual valid cognition and result, establishing the object to be measured, and establishing the result. First, when one wants to establish or not want to establish an external object different from the object of consciousness, which in conventional terms is the cause of the Vijnanavada consciousness that appears as a thing, then the consciousness that manifests things, in terms of this, is considered the result of understanding things in conventional terms, because the aspect of wanting or not wanting, which is not established as the entity of wanting or not wanting an external object, is established as experiencing things through experiencing the wanting or not wanting of the external object. Here, Lha (deity) said "the second fruit perception" that becomes the result of understanding things for the object to be measured, which refers to the valid cognition and result of the conventional terms of the Vijnanavada school. If one does not understand this meaning, compares this with the meaning of the first valid cognition and result, and then explains the following two verses as comparing with the meaning of the second valid cognition and result, it is like decorating the throat with a chain of bad phrases, because the establishment of understanding things in conventional terms is the same in both the upper and lower parts. The cause of Vijnanavada is another object, which is also true in conventional terms, and it has the same meaning as the object condition that appears as the object of examination. Second, when the aspect that consciousness itself has not grasped is established as an external object, and for the sake of applying terms, consciousness is established as if it has other objects, and the thing that appears as an object is empty of meaning, then, in terms of this, the external object can be established as the object to be measured, because the aspect of the object to be experienced that has become the nature of consciousness itself is determined as an external object by the subsequent definitive cognition, that is, it is clung to and established. Third, if this consciousness that manifests things, in terms of this, can become the result of understanding things in conventional terms, because it experiences the aspect of wanting oneself and the aspect of not wanting another

Because even experiencing the feeling of wanting or not wanting will be regarded as having recognized the external object in name. Third, there are three ways in which external objects exist but self-awareness is established as the result: Establishing self-awareness as the result. Establishing the apprehended aspect as valid. Establishing external objects as serving others. The first has three aspects: If external objects are experienced, it is too excessive. Refuting its faults in order. Therefore, self-awareness is established as the result. First: Like the Sutra School, external objects are hidden, or like the Mind-Only School, although external objects exist in name, the measure of the object's appearance, the dharma, how the mind itself experiences the aspects of wanting or not wanting, etc., must be established as determining that the object is also wanting or not wanting, etc., and not experiencing the nature of the object's self-awareness as it is. If so, then one object becomes the nature of many things such as wanting or not wanting, because it appears as many wanting or not wanting in the minds of different people, so there is such a fault. Second: If it is admitted that one object is also the nature of many things such as wanting or not wanting, then there is no fault, then, for two people who appear as wanting or not wanting for one object, the dharma, wanting or not wanting will not be experienced separately, because each also becomes experiencing both wanting or not wanting. Because that object is able to appear to you as both wanting or not wanting. If it is said that because the unseen karma obscures any one of wanting or not wanting, so each is not experiencing both, then, the minds of different observers, the dharma, will not realize the object as it is because of the object, because the object exists as both wanting or not wanting, and you realize it as any one. Furthermore, that unseen karma, the dharma, how can it make one see the object as it is? Because it makes one see the object that has many natures such as wanting or not wanting, as having only any one nature. If it is said that the appearance of many wanting and not wanting for one object is conceptual thought, not the root consciousness of the object, so the root consciousness grasps the object as it is, then, the consciousness of the root
