It is not existent in the ultimate reality, because your basis, the characteristic, does not exist in the ultimate sense. Therefore, the aggregates and so forth, these are the subject of the proposition, they are devoid of characteristics in the ultimate sense, because there is no function of characteristics in the ultimate sense. The fourth has three points: refuting the contradiction with the appearance of duality, refuting the realization of suchness by all, and refuting the contradiction with the words of the Sage. The first is: if all phenomena included by the grasped and the grasper are without inherent existence, then it contradicts what appears manifestly. If so, the ordinary being whose mind is deluded by ignorance, which is not afflicted, is the subject of the proposition. The appearance of the grasped and the grasper as two to you does not necessitate that the grasped and the grasper are truly existent, because for you, depending on the respective conditions that awaken the latent imprints, the consciousness that appears as forms and so forth arises as an aspect that is not suchness, just as the appearance of hairs and so forth to someone with cataracts. The second is: if all phenomena are empty of the grasped and the grasper in reality, then ordinary beings would realize the suchness of emptiness of duality from the beginning. If so, all ordinary beings who are not Arya beings are the subject of the proposition. The suchness of emptiness of duality is not realized completely, because the latent imprints have not been eradicated from the root due to the appearance of the grasped and the grasper as two. The reason is established, because if there were no delusion of the appearance of the grasped and the grasper as two, then those non-Arya beings would not exist. The third is: if all phenomena included by the grasped and the grasper are without inherent existence, then it contradicts the arrangement of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases taught by the Bhagavan. If so, the Bhagavan, although he saw the meaning of suchness, acted as if he did not see, and engaged in the practice of arranging the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of the external world in the manner of an elephant's gaze, is the subject of the proposition. This is not an arrangement made with the ultimate reality in mind, because the intention was to prevent worldly people from grasping at things as solid, and so forth, and the meaning of suchness was temporarily set aside, so it is a conventional arrangement. Second, although it exists, there is no harm because there is a difference in the reason, there are three points: various consciousnesses are not different, the meaning

There are various kinds of distinctions. Even without a single entity, it is reasonable in phenomena. The first case is: For the eye consciousness that grasps variegation, the appearance of variegation appearing coarse, the dharma is: it should not be a single entity. Because it appears in various ways in the mind. To answer this question, based on the tenets of the Sutra School: Our mind is essentially diverse. Because the reason "diverse appearances that can be distinguished" is specific. And the appearance of the eye consciousness that grasps variegation cannot be distinguished, so this argument is not established. That is, for the consciousness that grasps variegation, various colors such as blue appear, the dharma is: it is the difference of consciousness, that is, the nature of experience is unique. It does not depend on other entities or consist of other entities. Because it is a variety of indistinguishable appearances. It is not possible to clearly see each part in a distinguishable way. If it is said that the reason is not established, because later discriminations will distinguish and say "This is blue," "This is yellow," etc. Then, the later discrimination at that time, the discrimination that makes such distinctions, the dharma is: it is not that the appearance manifested by the eye consciousness is directly manifested and then distinguished. Because if the meaning of the sound is directly manifested, it will cling to the self-characteristic of the meaning, and thus engage in distinguishing the meaning. Therefore, the appearance of a single mind that grasps variegation, the dharma is: although it appears in various ways, it is true on the level of a single consciousness. Because the only consciousness, no matter how it appears as an indistinguishable variety, is only experiencing that state. Therefore, it is for this reason. The second case is: Just as there is no difference in the variety of consciousness, the colors such as blue and yellow of things such as cloth and butterflies should also be a single entity. If you think so, then things like cloth, the dharma is: it should be like the variety of consciousness, without distinction. Because it is a single entity. If you say that although there are differences, it is the variety of components, not the whole. Then, things like cloth, the dharma is: the variety of components with differences is excluded. Because there is no whole other than that. Because other than the variety of components, there is no other difference, no other variety of the whole is seen by valid cognition.
