Subject: It should not become apparent without interruption, because each experiencing substance is separated. The second part is divided into two: refuting with the previous reasoning, and refuting with other reasoning. The first part: There is no pervasion in any inference, because entering quickly before and after, even if there is separation, it connects to be without interruption, that is, because it appears. If you say so, listener's mind, it is not appropriate for you to connect the sound you hear to be without interruption even if there is separation, because entering quickly and connecting to be without interruption is the same for others as well, because it has been refuted. The second part is divided into four: If confusion occurs due to rapid entry, it is too much; if connected by sense, it becomes inverted consciousness; the connector is not the sense consciousness itself; the basis for connection by conceptual thought itself is refuted. The first part: If sense consciousness sees the separation of form, sound, etc., but this consciousness becomes confused as without separation due to rapid entry, then even if two short letters like "A" and "I" are spoken, the listener's mind hearing them should be confused as without separation all at once, because of rapid entry. The second part: Furthermore, when hearing letters, is the imputation of no separation to the consciousness with previous and subsequent separation done by the sense consciousness itself, or by another consciousness? If it is like the first case, even if the sense consciousness sees things in the way of distinguishing the separation of experiencing objects, it is not permissible to impute no separation from the sense consciousness itself, because there is the fault of being too extreme. How is it that all sense consciousnesses should become inverted, because they are separated by other experiencing objects, but impute no separation. The explanation of this is that the nature of letters, the end of everything, that is, even something very short like "A", has many parts of previous and subsequent moments, because it exists for the duration of a blink of an eye, and it cannot be shorter than that, and that blink of an eye is gradually completed by being associated with the positions where many atoms are piled up one after another, the time it takes for one extremely small dust particle to move from its previous position to another place is the shortest time, that is, the time to reach the shortest limit, and it is also considered to be the measure of a moment at the limit of time.

Therefore, the listening consciousness is also a phenomenon. The parts of letters will be gradually understood, because the auditory consciousness that grasps the preceding and following parts of letters arises and ceases with the final instant. Therefore, all sensory consciousnesses that grasp letters, forms, etc., are phenomena. They must become things with mistaken meanings, because they are consciousnesses that grasp their own objects and appear to be uninterrupted even when interrupted by other experiencing consciousnesses. The third point is that the illusion that sensory consciousnesses appear uninterrupted even though they are interrupted between the preceding and following moments. Although sensory consciousness is an illusion, it does not mix the preceding and following moments. Therefore, other consciousnesses, apart from sensory consciousness, connect and mix things that are interrupted between the preceding and following moments by saying, "This is this," without interruption. That consciousness is a phenomenon. It is conceptual because it does not represent the difference between the preceding and following moments of things, that is, it does not understand, so it is a memory that has the cause of illusion. Therefore, for that concept, it is a phenomenon. How could the sensory consciousness that appears in the middle of long letters, etc., be that? It must not be, because it is related to expression, that is, it grasps by combining name and meaning. This is universal. Because it has already been said that the sensory consciousness that clearly grasps letters, etc., does not actually combine sound with the meaning that is grasped. The fourth point has three parts: the cognition of meaning is uninterrupted and there is no harm. Having examined the meaning of the scriptures that cause harm, it is explained elsewhere. In this way, the fact that recognition is direct perception is refuted. The first point is that if the sensory consciousness sees meaning in a way that is interrupted by other experiences, then the subsequent concept connects without interruption. Then, meaning, form, etc., are phenomena. What is the reason that the consciousness that you grasp is said to be interrupted and produced by other experiences? It must not be, because you and your experience, that is, the consciousness that you grasp, appear to be continuous, and there is no harm from superior reasoning for existing as it appears. The second point is that if it is not established that there is no harm, then, because the consciousness that sees meaning does not have self-awareness, it must be cognized by other consciousnesses. Moreover, those will not arise simultaneously, because each previous consciousness must have the ability to generate each subsequent consciousness. Then, consciousness
