If it is said to be clear, then, the preceding and subsequent minds, Dharmas, which of the two do they become, the object to be clarified or the clarifier? They should not become either, because both are equally not of the nature of clarity. If the mind itself is not clear without self-awareness, then how can objects, such as vases, be clear? They should not be clear. The vases, etc., that appear in the mind, Dharmas, are not clear because they are born as the nature of clarity, but because your nature, that is, the image, is transformed into the self-illuminating knowledge, it is merely established as clear. The mind, Dharmas, is completely clear in itself, that is, it is born as the nature of clarity, because the image that appears in itself is also its nature. If, in that way, the image of the previous mind arises in the subsequent mind, so that the subsequent mind clarifies the previous one, then the subsequent mind, Dharmas, should become self-aware, because it is born as the image of the object and is clear to itself. If the subsequent mind is not self-aware, then the object should also become the clarifier of the previous mind, because the subsequent mind that is not clear itself, what is it as the clarifier of the previous mind? Because it is not clear together with the subsequent mind, but has the same nature. Therefore, according to our system, the mind, Dharmas, is completely clear through being born as the nature of self-clarity, and is not the object to be clarified by others, because if it is not clear itself, there would be a very great fault. Other objects, Dharmas, even if they are not clear themselves, can still be called completely clear, because in that knowledge, your nature, that is, the image, is transformed, so that your image appears in the mind, so it is clear. Secondly, other previous minds, Dharmas, even if the subsequent mind arises in the same way as you, the subsequent mind does not want to make it completely clear, because it is completely clear itself. So, how does the mind that arises in the same way as the object make the object clear? The mind that is the same as the object, Dharmas, does not make the object the nature of clarity, but because the nature of the object, that is, the image, arises, it is merely established as making the object completely clear. If it is self-illuminating, then why is it not the object to be clarified and the clarifier? The two minds, preceding and subsequent, Dharmas, are not the object to be clarified and the clarifier, because they are equally self-illuminating. For example, like two lamps. The object and the mind, both, Dharmas, clear

It can serve as a cause of manifestation, i.e., any one that is not self-manifesting, while the other is self-manifesting. For example, candles and vases, etc., are also, in sequence, one manifesting and the other not manifesting, therefore, the vase as the object to be manifested, and the nature of the candle as the cause of manifestation, are widely spread in the world, just like that. For the Vaibhashika who asserts that consciousness is not manifest, like you, the consciousness that apprehends forms, etc., when you see forms, etc., you will undoubtedly also see, i.e., experience, your own nature other than the forms, etc., because you will later recall that you saw the forms, etc. This is pervasive, if consciousness itself is not experienced, merely having the object and the sense faculty will not give rise to the certainty that this consciousness saw this object, therefore, it is only because of experiencing consciousness itself that it transforms into the certainty that this consciousness saw this object. Third, again establishing self-cognition with the reasoning of the sutras, there are two: establishing self-cognition with the reason of recollection, refuting those who say that what has already been established is established again. First, the reason of recollection stated by the teacher not only establishes the two ways, but also establishes the self-nature of cognition, i.e., the consciousness that apprehends forms, etc., is experienced when it exists, because it will be recollected later, in this way. Second, there are two: stating the assertion, refuting it. First, if establishing one's own experience from the reason of recollection is uncertain, and if merely establishing experience is re-establishing what has already been established, i.e., the later consciousness is cognized by others, i.e., experience, and from that recollection arises, if that is asserted. Second, there are two: the former entails not apprehending length, etc., the latter entails not transferring to the object. First, there are two: refuting with reason that one auditory consciousness apprehends length, etc., if many in sequence apprehend length, etc., then it is contradictory to the commitment. First, there are two: stating the consequence, refuting other answers. First, for the answer to that assertion, temporarily setting aside the reason of the Nyaya school that would lead to infinity, and answering it oneself, if that is the case, if the consciousness that apprehends letters, length, etc., has not experienced it, then it will not be recollected later, if it has been experienced, then the auditory consciousness has taken all the parts of the letters, length, etc., without sequence, and its
