Therefore, fire will definitely be ascertained, and it will not change. If it is said that it is not certain that one's own result will arise from all causes, then, for the Mind-Only school, in the nominal, in the inference of fire from smoke, the consciousness that appears as smoke, the dharma is, from your reason, on some basis, the consciousness that appears as fire of those whose habit of appearing as fire is clearly awakened, is actually determined to be able to arise, that is, to be established. The external fire and the consciousness that appears as fire exist now, but it is not an inference, because on some basis, the establishment of the ability to produce the consciousness that appears as fire is complete with three aspects, and the current establishment of the external fire and appearance is incomplete with three aspects. So, what is the establishment of smoke arising from fire like? For the Mind-Only school, the dharma is, in the nominal, the establishment of smoke arising from fire is feasible, because the essence of the habit of being able to generate the consciousness that appears as fire in that mindstream is the condition that clearly manifests the consciousness that appears as smoke, therefore. Here, for the Mind-Only school, the habit of appearing as fire is the immediate cause of the consciousness that appears as fire and the co-emergent condition of the consciousness that appears as smoke, so in the latter, the nominal is established, saying that smoke arises from fire. For the continuum of the opponent, before the consciousness that appears as smoke, although there is no consciousness that appears as fire, there is the habit of appearing as fire, so it is considering the generation of that consciousness. Second, for the Mind-Only scholars who do not accept external objects, there is the debate and answer just mentioned. Without having to eliminate such debates, for the Sutra school, the dharma is, relying on the acceptance of external objects, it is also said that consciousness and manner are two, that is, because it is established through the certainty of simultaneously experiencing the knowledge that appears as an object and the aspect of the object that appears on it. Fourth, there are three ways to establish the difference between clear and unclear sense faculties: the three appearances are all consciousness, if it is an object, it is too much, and the similarity of those born from objects is abandoned. First, a single object like the moon, the dharma is, for you, the appearance of the many sense consciousnesses that look at it, the consciousness itself is the way it appears, established as two, because for you, when viewed by many individuals, due to the difference between clear and unclear sense faculties, etc...

Clear, unclear, and mixed, i.e., intermediate states, etc. Furthermore, since many wise ones arise focusing on you, they perceive yellow, etc., as different phenomena other than white. Second, if this consciousness does not manifest the form of things from the things themselves, but grasps things as they are without form, then the nature of things like the moon, all consciousnesses that take it as their object, i.e., object-oriented consciousnesses, will become the same in nature, i.e., having the same form. Because they are the same. Third, if consciousness arises similarly from things, then since things are the same, the fault of forms also becoming the same lies with you. If you say so, then this consciousness will arise depending on the same thing, and the consciousness that follows the essence of that thing, i.e., the form, has the cause of becoming different forms. Because from the differences in habits and other causes, some parts of the form, such as clear and unclear, etc., will become different forms. For example, a son depends on his father and is born similar to the father's image, but due to some other causes, some parts of the son are perceived as different in good and bad, just like that. Fifth, establishing by the appearance of a mandala that is non-existent has three aspects: establishing that the form of the mandala is mind itself; if it is an external object, it will be harmed by three faults; refuting that sense consciousness is the object of delusion. First, the mandala like a lamp, which has the form of peacock feathers, blue and red, and those bright forms, will be seen by unclear eye consciousness, that form is established as the second way that mind itself appears as an object. Because although it appears as an object, it is not a true object. Second, if you say that the appearing object of that consciousness is a newly produced external object, so it is not the second way of mind itself, then, how can that form, when it exists in that object and time, not have the ability to grasp it with a clear sense consciousness? It should have the ability, because it is a visible external object. Furthermore, how can the sense consciousness that sees that form have the deterioration of the sense organ as its immediate cause? It should not be, because it sees the true, i.e., the true external object.
