It is established, because there is no reason for establishment. The second case is: if it is said that the reason for non-establishment is not established, because the mind is in the image of that thing. The mind, in its own time, does have the image of things that follow it. However, this image is the subject to be proven. Are you the real thing of the external object, or other images arising from habits? This should be worthy of study, not the real thing of the external object, because there are reasons to be explained below that will hinder it. How does it hinder? Appearing blue is the subject to be proven. Seeing is the mind, not the external independent thing, because the characteristic of seeing is that when the attachment to blue exists or not, you do not attach; when the attachment to blue exists, you attach, that is, it becomes a definite object together with the attachment to blue. Here, Lhawang said: If the mind is in that image, this is first proposed from the standpoint of the Sutra School, and the Tibetans follow it, which is not to exert the ability of the teaching method of the upper and lower treatises, because the former prevents the external object that creates the image, and establishes self-awareness as the result; the latter prevents the image itself from being the external object, and the occasion of establishing self-awareness as the result is manifested separately; otherwise, the occasion of preventing the external object and establishing self-awareness will become repeated. So, the Vaibhashika School does not admit that the image of things arises in the mind, so how should the statement that the mind is in that image be established? It is not that the image is not admitted at all, because all minds and mental factors are admitted to be with images. It is not that there is no difference from the Sutra School, because for the image of things arising in the consciousness of the appearance of things, the Sutra School admits it as the nature of consciousness, while the Vaibhashika School admits it as the nature of things. Therefore, establishing two ways here is also establishing two ways that become the nature of one mind, and it should be known that it is not just establishing two ways. Do not follow the horns of the rabbit, but sort out the upper and lower great treatises and study them. If it is said that the reason why the consciousness of the result sometimes reverses can establish the existence of the cause external object? The mind that appears as fire is the subject to be proven. Whether it arises is determined by whether the former that awakens its own habits exists or not, rather than relying on the external fire to determine whether it arises.

It is not. Because in the context of speaking about Vijnanavada, some earlier entering consciousnesses cause the habits of some later entering consciousnesses to fully awaken. The third reason is that there is no external object existing independently. The consciousness of phenomena, as a dharma, has the appearance of two forms, the grasper and the grasped, which are defiled by ignorance. Because oneself has the appearance of two forms, so it is experienced in this way, and later it is also remembered in this way. In this way, the consciousness of phenomena, as a dharma, among these two forms, the form of the grasped is the object to be measured, completely cutting off its grasping form is the valid cognition, and personally experiencing its self-awareness itself is the result, because it is a consciousness with two forms. Here, Lha (referring to Lhazun Rinchen Namgyal) said "the first fruit of distinction," which refers to the view of Vijnanavada. Second, regarding the explanation of the valid cognition and result of knowing things (artha) in name, there are three points: the reality of the valid cognition and result, the establishment of the object to be measured, and the establishment of the result. The first point is that when, in name, for the cause of the Vijnanavada consciousness that appears as things, it is desired to establish whether external things other than the consciousness exist or do not exist, the consciousness of phenomena, as a dharma, can be considered in name as the result of knowing things (artha), because the form of whether external things exist or not is not the real existence of whether external things exist or not, but rather the experience of things is established through the way of experiencing whether external things exist or not. Here, Lha (referring to Lhazun Rinchen Namgyal) said "for the object to be measured, the second fruit of distinction that becomes the result of knowing things (artha)," which refers to the valid cognition and result in name in Vijnanavada. If this principle is not understood, comparing this with the meaning of the first valid cognition and result, and then explaining the following two verses as the meaning of the second valid cognition and result, is like decorating the throat with bad ornaments, because the way of establishing knowing things (artha) in name is the same in both the upper and lower cases. The cause of Vijnanavada is another object, which is also said in name, and is the same meaning as what is said to be the condition of the object appearing as the object. The second point is that when the consciousness itself does not grasp the form, it is established as an external thing, and for the sake of applying name, the consciousness is established as if it has another object, and when the thing appearing in the object is empty of meaning, as a dharma, it can be established as an external object to be measured, because the consciousness itself
