Etc. Here, these three are spoken of in reverse order, the first two being the order of the sutras. The necessity of mentioning what arises from the object at the end is to avoid disputes over the term "sense consciousness" that is being represented. In the context of what is being discussed, it is necessary to mention that it arises from both the sense faculty and the object, and to know what arises from the object as one of them. Previously in Tibet, there was no other explanation like this. The second part has four aspects: explaining sense perception with freedom from conceptualization and refutation of disputes; explaining mental perception with three conditions and refutation of disputes; explaining self-awareness perception by establishing the object of experience as knowledge; and explaining yogic perception by establishing correct clarity. The first part has two aspects: establishing the characteristic of freedom from conceptualization through reasoning; and refuting disputes about the two, characteristic and example. The first part has two aspects: examining and establishing the conceptualization to be eliminated; and establishing by applying the implied proof. The first part has two aspects: establishing that the conceptualization associated with names is separate; establishing that the conceptualization associated with genus, etc., is separate. The first part has two aspects: stating the proof that is valid by reasoning; and refuting the establishment of what appears to be a proof. The first part has three aspects: if there is no cause for error, it is established by perception itself; if there is a cause for error, it is established by relying on a sign; and refuting disputes about it by showing the cause for error. The first part has two aspects: explaining how it is established by perception itself; and placing the proof on the subject. The first part is: The teacher thinks that sense perception is free from conceptualization, and if there is no cause for error, it is established by perception, and if there is a cause for error, it is established by relying on the proof explained in the case of mental perception, so the proof is not actually stated, so, sense perception, the subject, if there is no cause for error, you are free from conceptualization, this will be established by self-awareness perception, because if there is no cause for error, you are free from conceptualization, you experience that self-awareness perception can lead to certainty, because it is pervasive, if all the conceptualizations of beings are based on names, then they must be known individually through their own self-awareness. The second part is: What is sense perception without a cause for error like? How does it become established as free from conceptualization by perception itself?

If so, from all external objects, gather the conceptual mind inward, and abide in the inner self-nature, without being moved by form, etc. When the eye consciousness sees form, etc., that mind is characterized by dharma. It is a sense direct perception, because it is an unerring consciousness born from the self-cause, the colored sense organ. The sense perception of the previously described state is characterized by dharma. You are separate from nominal conceptualization, and you are established by experiential self-awareness direct perception. If you are nominal conceptualization, then again, when the consciousness after your experiential self-awareness direct perception slightly conceptualizes, you must know "my conceptualization will become like this," but you do not know that. Some people think that this is a reason for appearance being available but not obtained, which is unreasonable, because for theorists, the meaning of sense consciousness being free from conceptualization must be established. The second part has three points: establishing the subject property, establishing the reason, and establishing pervasion. The first point is: the specific self-characteristic that becomes the object of sense consciousness is characterized by dharma. You are not the object directly expressed by sound, because you are seen at one time of convention, but you will not be seen at some other times of naming. Therefore, it also prevents the general characteristic that is one with appearance and substance from being directly expressed. If it is said that there is another general characteristic that becomes the object of sense consciousness, so it directly expresses it. Then, the self-characteristic that becomes the object of sense consciousness is characterized by dharma. You are not a general characteristic that is different in substance from the appearance, because there is no valid consciousness that holds a general characteristic that is different in substance from the appearance. The second point is: the object of sense consciousness is not directly expressed by sound, therefore, all unerring consciousness born from the senses is characterized by dharma. It is not nominal conceptualization, because it has the object of apprehension of a specific self-characteristic. The third part has two points: showing that the self-characteristic is not the object of convention, refuting the establishment of the object of convention. The first point is: the fundamental reason has pervasion, because it is impossible for sounds, etc. to be directly applied to specific self-characteristics, because specific self-characteristics do not follow both the time of convention and the time of naming, and convention cannot be directly applied to what does not follow. The former has pervasion, because sounds, etc.
