Because when it becomes ruined, it is said that the previous object is impermanent. Fourth, incidentally refuting the views of other schools regarding impermanence, it is divided into two parts: first, state the opponent's view and then inquire about its meaning; examine the two extremes of the inquiry and then refute them. The first part is: The proponents of knowledge and the Vaisheshika school believe that merely existent things are not impermanent, because if they were, then space and so on would also become impermanent. Nor is it merely a thing, because there is no connection with the thing, so it cannot obtain the name "the impermanence of this thing is this." Therefore, the very word impermanence is determined between two extremes, that is, the existent object, such as form, which is now located in the middle, is existent, and it has a manner of expressing the connection of being suitable for gathering. Then, please tell me, what are the two extremes of action of that existent special thing? The second part is divided into two parts: refuting that the previous and later non-existence are two extremes; refuting that cause and effect are two extremes. The first part is: If that thing did not arise before and is non-existent, and later it is destroyed and non-existent, and these two are the extremes, then why are the previous non-existence and the later non-existence not impermanent? The answer is: It is not the impermanence of the thing, because the sixth case of "the impermanence of the thing" and the combination of words such as dharma and dharmin are not possible, because it is a non-thing, so there is no connection with the thing. If so, then, how can the dharma with two extremes be combined with existence in the sixth case? It cannot be combined, because it is a non-thing. Furthermore, existence itself is special, its connection is the dharmin, and it is distinguished by the extremes of previous non-existence and later non-existence, which will not become not, because it is permanent. The reason for the refutation is admitted. The second part is divided into four parts: The thing does not exist before, because it does not exist, so there is no cause and effect; the connection is permanent, so it is not a result; if the thing did not exist before, it would be self-contradictory; therefore, it is shown that the thing itself did not exist before. The first part is: If the cause is the previous extreme and the effect is the later extreme, and the thing in between is an existent special thing, then the existent special thing, becoming the distinction of cause and effect, is non-existent, because cause and effect itself
