Moreover, the Sautrāntika and Vaibhāṣika schools have very detailed debates in the commentary on the Abhidharmakośa regarding the question of whether or not form exists in the formless realm. Explaining the meaning of the text as an answer of differentiation does not involve the literal meaning, because it is unrelated to "the five sources of birth in this life." If it is said that "even if it is the same, it is not necessarily produced immediately from a cause," this is also not in accordance with the answer of differentiation, and it is the same as this. The five sources of birth in this life act as the cause of form in the formless realm, which means that through the impressions left by them, there is a subtle form that becomes the basis of the mind, but it does not mean that the five sources of birth actually exist, because this would lead to the fault that beings in the formless realm have an intermediate state. The intention of the author of the Ornament and his followers in explaining impressions as the cause is also this. No one else in the snowy land (referring to Tibet) has spoken like this as it is. Second, the body and mind at the time of death are the subject of the proposition. They are not the cause and condition of the body and mind in the next life, because they are not observed there. If it is said that the limb of the next body, that is, the object of the condition, is the mind, and in order to prevent the proximate cause from being the dying body itself, it is not observed in this way, then this reason is not a valid reason for determining the proposition, because it has been explained in detail before that it is not a valid reason for determining the proposition. If it is said that even if it is not observed, it cannot be prevented, but it can be prevented by signs such as being a sense faculty or being a mind, then the sense faculties, etc., are also the subject of the proposition. It is not understandable to prevent it, because it has a remainder of doubt about the pervasiveness of preventing it. Third, the sense faculty at the time of death is the subject of the proposition. If other conditions are complete and there is no obstacle, then the production of other subsequent sense faculties will also necessarily be established, because it is a sense faculty. For example, it is seen that the previous sense faculty of this life has the ability to produce the subsequent one of its own kind, because it is seen that when the previous sense faculty becomes clear or turbid, the subsequent one also becomes clear or turbid. If it is said that the sense faculty of this life is not produced from the previous sense faculty, but from a constant body, then a being with a body is the subject of the proposition. The previous sense faculty is a constant cause.

Just as "near therefore," it would follow that many similar types of sense faculties would arise simultaneously, because the direct cause of many similar types of sense faculties—the body—is permanent and always exists. Furthermore, if you ask whether the five sense faculties of this life arise from the mind, then the five sense faculties of other bodies in future lives are also the same, and should arise from this very mind, because the reason is the same as the sense faculties of this life arising from the mind. Fourth, showing the conclusion established by negation is: the minds of ordinary people and arhats at the moment of death are all, because the body and breath are the proximate causes of the mind, and because the cause of the mind is separated from the body or breath, the reason is given, and your subsequent consciousness cannot be established without connection, because the body and breath are not the proximate causes of the mind. Because that reason cannot be established without connection, therefore the other proof similar to it—the dying mind—is also, for the previous subject, the reason for establishing without connecting subsequent consciousness is not correct, because it is considered to have a remainder that may fall into the inconsistent aspect of such establishment. Second, refuting that although it exists, it does not go beyond its own nature, there are three points: establishing the debate based on examples, refuting the meaning of the examples established by others, and explaining the examples that are reasonable for one's own side. The first is: even if compassion changes slightly due to habituation, it will not go beyond its previous nature and become characterized by entering on its own accord, just as jumping and the temperature of water change due to habituation, but do not increase infinitely. If you ask this, the second has four points: there is no difference of infinite increase in the example, there is a difference of infinite increase in the meaning, refuting the debate that the example is the same as the meaning, and refuting the debate that is too extreme in the meaning. The first is: jumping and the temperature of water, like the nature of compassion, are not infinitely increasing either, because although they increase slightly due to habituation, they are not the nature of increasing on their own. The reason is established, because the efforts that can help jumping do not have the ability to prove infinite increase for the subsequent differences, and the temperature of water
