Therefore, one seeks (a spiritual friend) in order to earnestly practice the path to liberation taught by the teacher, and that is why one seeks a spiritual friend. Second, therefore, those who seek liberation should carefully examine who possesses the wisdom that is to be realized, that is, the goal for those who seek liberation. It is not appropriate to examine whether this spiritual friend knows the number of insects, etc., because that is sometimes of no use to us who seek liberation. Third, therefore, whoever realizes without error the reality of what should be accepted, namely the truth of cessation, together with the path of means, and the reality of what should be abandoned, namely the truth of suffering, together with the means of origin, that person is considered a reliable person. Other than that, merely realizing all hidden things is not a reliable person, because you fully understand all the methods of liberation. This is not because one does not accept it because reason cannot prove it at first, but not because it is impossible. O Knower of all things! It is not the negation of the all-knowing. Because we cannot know, we want to know the supreme! Fourth, whether this teacher can see far away or not does not matter, seeing the desired reality, namely the four truths, is a reliable person. If seeing far away is a reliable person even if one does not understand the desired meaning, then those scholars who understand the meaning desired by people but do not see far away, leave and come back here! One should rely on vultures and dakinis etc. as teachers, because that would lead to being worthy of reliance. The second part has five aspects: proving compassion as an argument with reason, how the teacher arises from it, how the Sugata arises from it, how the protector arises from it, therefore, the existence of the argument is proven. The first part has three aspects: the nature of the argument, the cause of the argument, and refuting the refutation of the argument. First, because there is no argument, it is unreasonable to say "there is no argument." Like this, reliable person, you have an argument, because you have the compassion that equally treats all sentient beings, wishing them to be completely free from suffering, without relying on repaying kindness, etc.
