O, Lord of the Earth! The nature of self-view, and all the faults arising from it, such as attachment, are contrary to purity, therefore it is the antidote to these. Because your and the way of holding self-view are directly contradictory, and you enter into the reality of the object. Third, faults and other phenomena, becoming the subject, even if practicing the antidote will not be exhausted, becoming the reason, because it is the nature of sentient beings. If it is said that, just like the color of form and the heat of fire will not be exhausted. Faults and other phenomena, becoming the subject, because it is the nature of your mind, so it is unreasonable that it will not be exhausted. Because the nature of your mind has not been established. Because when the aspect of antidote realizing selflessness and the mind stream are connected, you also see the manifestation of these appearances receding. If, like gold and other things melted by fire, the part where the fire goes out becomes hard again, even if faults are eliminated once, they will recur when separated from the antidote, then the mind stream where faults are completely stopped after practicing selflessness, becoming the subject, like the hardness of gold, will not generate faults again when separated from the antidote. Because the nature of the antidote realizing selflessness itself will not be separated from the antidote. Just like ashes will not turn back into wood when separated from fire, when separated from the antidote, its elimination of the antidote will not necessarily recur. Second, there are three reasons for establishing it as an antidote: Declaring that realizing selflessness is the antidote to self-view, declaring that realizing selflessness is the antidote to craving, and there is no other antidote of karma and body besides that. First, there are three: Declaring that self-view is the root of samsara, establishing the reason for being the root, therefore advising to uproot the root. First, why does realizing selflessness become the antidote to samsara? Because the root of samsara is self-view, and it is directly contradictory to the way of holding it. Why is it the root? Self-view is established as the root of samsara, because if someone grasps the aggregates as self, then for that self, they will always grasp and be attached to "I", as long as there is attachment to the self, then this attached self will wander in samsara. Because from attachment to the self, craving for happiness will arise, and from craving, things that are mine will arise.

By obscuring faults and seeing virtues, through the gate of complete craving for "mine," the grasping of "mine" becomes firm, thus taking the self as the means to happiness. The second (part) has three: showing self-view as the root of faults; if there is self-view, there is no detachment from desire; if there is no detachment from desire, then one revolves in samsara. The first (part) is: self-view is the root of all faults, because if someone has the grasping of self, then from that (self) outwards, towards others, the thought of other arises, from grasping the part of "mine," attachment arises, from the part of others, hatred arises, and from being completely connected with these attachments and hatred, all faults such as jealousy and stinginess arise. The second (part) has two: self-view generates both attachment; there is no other means to abandon both. The first (part) is: the one with self-grasping who wants to be detached from desire for "mine," has the property, is inseparable from attachment to "mine," because he is certainly one who has attachment to self. The reason is established, the one with self-grasping, has the property, also does not have the cause of being separated from attachment to self, because he grasps the self as having faultless virtues. The second (part) has two: there is no other means to abandon attachment to self; there is no other means to abandon attachment to "mine." The first (part) has three: knowing faults cannot extract the object of clinging; knowing faults cannot prevent the real cause; showing that knowing faults itself is self-contradictory. The first (part) is: if even though one thinks that the self is faultless, one thinks that attachment to self is faulty, then, after thinking that, what will happen? Will one abandon attachment to self? If one thinks like that, then, the person who thinks that attachment to self is faulty, has the property, cannot abandon attachment to self, because the object of clinging of attachment to self, the self who has virtues, is not refuted, that is, because he thinks that the self has virtues. Pervasion: attachment to self arises from seeing the virtues of the self, whatever is related to seeing virtues, attachment arises; whatever is related to seeing faults, hatred arises; similarly, abandoning jealousy and stinginess, etc., is because those virtues and faults are not seen in the object, not by abandoning the objects to be abandoned in the way of abandoning external objects, like abandoning a thorn.
