Because there is no diligence, some, such as the king's estimators, vehemently proclaim. The second part has three points: negating the absence of valid cognition, thereby establishing valid cognition; negating the absence of the cause of establishment, thereby showing the cause of establishment; negating the absence of diligence, thereby establishing diligence. The first part has four points: it is reasonable to seek a wise person who knows all the necessary meanings; regarding this, it is appropriate to distinguish whether or not one possesses the knowledge of meaning; showing that a wise person who knows all the necessary meanings is a valid cognition; establishing the cause of establishment that he is indeed a valid cognition. The first point is: whether one knows or does not know all hidden meanings, the very fact of knowing well the means of liberation is a valid person for one who seeks liberation, because if this teacher teaches without knowing the means of liberation, he may teach non-means, therefore, those with conceptual minds who have doubts about the teacher, as the subject, will seek some virtuous friends who possess the knowledge of the means of liberation, because they seek virtuous friends in order to be diligent in the means of liberation taught by that teacher. The second point is: therefore, the seeker of liberation, as the subject, should distinguish in whom (virtuous friend) there is the wisdom that becomes the object to be attained, that is, the meaning to be sought, and it is not appropriate to distinguish whether this virtuous friend knows the number of insects, etc., because that is sometimes of no use to us who seek liberation. The third point is: therefore, the one who truly knows the reality of the truth of cessation, which should be taken, along with the path of means such as the truth of the path, and the reality of the truth of suffering, which should be abandoned, along with the means of origin such as the truth of origin, is considered by you to be a valid person, not that only the one who knows all hidden meanings other than you is a valid person, because you know well all the means of liberation. That is also initially not accepted because reason cannot establish it, not that it is not accepted because it is impossible, because: The one who knows all, does not negate the all-knowing one. We cannot know, therefore, we want the supreme one to know. The fourth point is: whether this teacher can see far away or not, the one who sees the desired suchness, that is, the four truths, is a valid person, if he does not know the desired meaning, even if the distance

If it is said that a person who sees with his eyes is a valid person, then those wise men who know the meaning desired by the person, those who have not seen the meaning of the distant, should abandon them and come here! One should rely on vultures and dakinis etc. as teachers, because reliance is reasonable. The second part has five points: establishing the provers with compassion through reasoning; the way the teacher arises from that; the way the Sugata arises from that; the way the protector arises from that; therefore, the existence of the provers is established. The first part has three points: the nature of the provers; its cause; refuting disputes about it. The first point: saying "that there is no provers either" is unreasonable. Thus, the valid person, the subject of the argument, you have provers, because without relying on repaying kindness etc., equally to all sentient beings, the compassion with the aspect of extremely wanting to be free from suffering is your provers. The second point: compassion, the subject of the argument, you have a cause, because you arise from the familiarity with the object and aspect of compassion in many lifetimes. The third part has two points: refuting the dispute that familiarity is impossible to change; refuting that it is possible but not beyond its own nature. The first part has two points: stating the dispute; explaining the refutation. The first point: the nihilist says, compassion, the subject of the argument, is not established by familiarity in many lifetimes, because there is no past or future life, because conceptual consciousness depends on the body, so when the body is destroyed, the stream of consciousness is cut off. The way of dependence is either like the intoxicating power in wine, consciousness is the nature of the body; or like the light on a lamp, it is the result of the body; or like the sweetness in molasses, it depends on the body in the way of its qualities. The second part has two points: brief indication; detailed explanation. The first point: compassion, the subject of the argument, is not established by familiarity due to the reason that mind and consciousness directly depend on the body, that is not reasonable. Because the mind and consciousness directly depending on the body is prevented by reason. How is it prevented? When ordinary people take birth, breathing, senses, and mind are not born from the body alone, without relying on the previous moment of their own kind, if they were, then stones etc. would also produce mind etc., which would be too extreme. And, this life
