The independent other than those seen as transformed, is a dharma, you are not the cause of the pot, because if you are considered the cause of that pot, then from all the results, the causes would be endlessly intertwined. The fourth part has two: refuting the uncertainty caused by external conditions, and refuting the uncertainty caused by internal conditions. The first part is that since it has not transformed from the state of non-cause above into a state with distinct self-nature, there is no fault of becoming a non-cause, if it is said that even though the earth and so on are permanent dharmas, they are the cause of the sprout even though they have not transformed from the state of not producing sprouts into a state with distinct self-nature. Earth and seeds, etc., are dharmas, when producing sprouts, if they completely transform from the state of not producing sprouts into a state with distinct self-nature, then it is a cause, but if it does not transform, then it is not, because after good cultivation and so on, the good qualities and other differences of that sprout will be seen. The second part is, if, for example, like the collection of sense faculties acting on objects, even if it has not transformed from the state of non-collection into a state with distinct differences, it is the cause of producing sense consciousness, similarly, is this independent also a cause even though it has not transformed from a non-cause into a state with distinct differences, so is it uncertain? For the collection of the three conditions, it is also a dharma, it is not that it has not transformed from the state of non-collection into a state with distinct self-nature, because there is a transformation from the state of non-collection into a state with distinct differences. If not, then even if the three conditions are collected, it is also a dharma, it will become without the ability to produce sense consciousness, because it has not transformed from the causes that individually do not have the ability to produce sense consciousness into a state with distinct self-nature. Therefore, the collection of the three conditions, is a dharma, it is established that it has transformed from the state of non-collection, because it has the ability to produce sense consciousness. Therefore, those three conditions, are dharmas, are the cause of sense consciousness and so on, because even though any one of them individually does not have the ability to produce sense consciousness and so on, if they are collected, they will become qualities with the distinction of being able to produce sense consciousness. The independent and so on, are dharmas, become non-causes, because they have not transformed into a state with distinct self-nature. Having explained the three proofs of that. Second, explaining the perfection of that proof, there are two: marginal analysis and the actual meaning of the text.
