Even though perfect realization has been achieved, the act of teaching the Dharma for the benefit of others will not be abandoned. Fifth, therefore, it has been proven that it is achieved through diligent practice. The Blessed One, because of diligence in the means of valid cognition, has become a reliable being in the pursuit of liberation. Because of having great compassion, he brings benefit, and because of having great wisdom, he speaks the truth, and possesses the means to prove these. Moreover, speaking in this way is also due to having diligence and effort. Explanation of the necessity of praising with valid cognition. Third, the explanation of the necessity of praising with valid cognition is divided into two points: demonstrating the necessity of establishing valid cognition; and the manner in which inferential valid cognition is established. The first point is: Since the Blessed One possesses immeasurable qualities, what is the necessity of praising with valid cognition itself? Praising the teacher with such qualities who has become valid cognition is necessary, because the system of valid cognition itself is established from the teachings of the Blessed One, and not arbitrarily established by Dignāga, in order to understand this reason. The second point is: Then, although manifest valid cognition is established in the scriptures, how is inferential valid cognition established? The Teacher, is considered inferential valid cognition, because inference is also an undeniable valid cognition, and it refutes that sound, etc., are valid cognition. Not only is it undeniable, but whatever has a slightly arising nature is all impermanent, having the nature of destruction. And, from smoke one can know fire, etc., in many ways, the application of this inference is also seen to be taught. Generally, the sign that is of the nature that the object to be proven will not occur without it is the basis of inference. That relationship of not occurring without the sign is also clearly explained by the previous statement, because the object to be proven, such as impermanence, etc., is universally related to the reason, such as arising, etc. The third point is: In the commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, "The Rays of Samantabhadra," the explanation of the second chapter on the establishment of valid cognition is completed. In between, the text of the chapter itself is explained.
