From the aspect of having, it collects the faultless. Then, I, the subject of dharma, become faulty, because the basis of suffering is the same for you as well. If you admit, then the liberation seeker, the subject of dharma, just because it is faulty, it is unreasonable that attachment to whatever is mine does not separate, because even in that I am faulty, there is no attachment or separation from the fault of that I. Sixth, if attachment to having arises from seeing qualities, then seeing faults should destroy it, but attachment to possessions etc., the subject of dharma, is not solely caused by seeing the qualities of having, because you are also seen in children and livestock etc. who do not know the difference between faults and qualities, and you also exist in your own faulty faculties, and although endowed with qualities, you do not exist in the possessions etc. of other people, and although seeing qualities in the possessions of the past and hair etc. that have fallen from the body, you do not exist. If the cause of attachment to having is the mind of having, and it arises from seeing qualities, so it is abandoned by meditating on suffering, then the cause of the arising of the mind of having in having, the subject of dharma, is not solely seeing the qualities of having, because you also exist in children etc., therefore it is also unreasonable. Therefore, the person, the subject of dharma, by seeing the faults that are not qualities of possessions etc., the mind of having towards possessions etc. is also not abandoned, because the mind of having does not arise from seeing qualities. Seventh, furthermore, through the accomplishment of meditating on having as suffering, the subject of dharma, how does it harm attachment to having? It cannot harm, because its cause is attachment to me, which is unharmed. It pervades, because the qualities that do not exist in having are due to attachment to the fabricated self, so attachment is also seen in having. Second, not being able to abandon by knowing the difference between power and self, the Samkhyas say, attachment does not arise from seeing qualities, but if nature is the object of attachment, and the person is held as one, then attachment arises to that object, if they are known to be different, then it will become non-attachment, then, ordinary people, the subject of dharma, attachment to power etc.

Therefore, you are not without attachment. Because you know from this that I am different from the senses, etc. Because he does not want me to become someone else, but in reality seeks to obtain other superior senses, etc., and because he himself is a sentient being who knows that the senses, etc., arise and cease, but regards me as permanent. Therefore, attachment, in terms of its nature, is not caused by seeing the object and the person as one, because even if you know that the object and the person are different, you still exist. So, what is the cause of attachment to me? Attachment to me, in terms of its nature, you are the cause of attachment to me. Because merely your existence can naturally give rise to attachment from the inner factors that generate the object's consciousness—the senses, etc.—to the self-nature. Third, aversion arising from suffering cannot eliminate attachment, which is divided into two points: revealing that aversion is not non-attachment, and refuting the fault of not having non-attachment. The first point is: if seeing the senses, etc., as suffering gives rise to aversion to them, and thus eliminates attachment to that object, then anyone who clings to the self, like this, seeing some objects as suffering and giving rise to aversion, this situation, in terms of its nature, is associated with hatred, not non-attachment, because attachment still exists at that time, because he seeks other happiness from suffering. Therefore, hatred characterized by aversion, in terms of its nature, exists only as long as suffering exists, because it is the cause of suffering, that is, the result. If suffering disappears, then it will rely again on its own nature, that is, having attachment. The second point is: if someone thinks that in this way, non-attachment cannot exist, then, for all objects that are lovely and unlovely, the person who is equal and impartial without any likes or dislikes, in terms of his nature, is called non-attachment, because he has abandoned the clinging to acceptance and rejection of objects. To what extent of equality can one be called non-attachment? If one person respectfully smears one side of the body with sandalwood, and another person cuts the body with an axe out of hatred, for these, there is neither attachment nor anger, but they are treated equally, this situation, in terms of its nature, you are called non-attachment, because you are the model of abandoning the clinging to acceptance and rejection.
