For the mind that has become a slave (to afflictions), even if one tries hard, it cannot be reversed because some inverted and confused thoughts will cause faults, because the mind itself has become inclined to hold onto the view of selflessness, becoming its slave. The third part has three points: merely having different ways of holding cannot be an antidote; merely suppressing a part cannot be an antidote; therefore, to show the antidote that completely eradicates. The first point is: if seeing selflessness becomes the antidote to self-grasping because the object and aspect of self-grasping are contradictory, then can attachment and hatred also become antidotes to each other because the object and aspect are contradictory? Attachment and anger, even if the ways of holding are different, will not harm each other, because they both come from the same cause of grasping at self, and they can also become the relationship of cause and effect to each other. The second point is: haven't it been said that the antidote to hatred is love, and the antidote to attachment is contemplating ugliness, etc.? Why is it said that only realizing selflessness is the only antidote? Love, etc., which focuses on sentient beings, cannot completely eliminate faults, because it is not contrary to ignorance and the way of holding, so it cannot harm it. This is universal, because all faults are rooted in ignorance. The previous reason is established, because the root of faults, ignorance, is also the view of the aggregates, and it is not contrary to its way of holding. The Vaibhashikas, etc., say: the view of the aggregates is to grasp things in a reversed way, and ignorance is merely obscuring wisdom, so they cannot be equated. Ignorance, thinking that it is different from the view of the aggregates, is merely obscuring wisdom, this statement is unreasonable, because wisdom and the object are the same, only the aspect is reversed. That is to say, ignorance is to hold onto the object of wisdom in a reversed way, because it is the opposite of wisdom, and is the object to be harmed. In general, if it is a mental factor, it must be the same as the mind in five aspects, therefore you are also a mental factor, so it is a thought that holds onto the object, and on this object, the aspect of wisdom and your aspect are contradictory.

Because it does not hold onto the aspect of inversion, and because it is said that you are the nature of superimposing inversion on the object. As it says in the "Moon Lamp Sutra": 'What is the absence of ignorance? It is the absence of superimposition on the dharmas that are exactly as they are.' Like that. If it is said that ignorance that is in accordance with views is contradictory, because it is impossible for oneself to be in accordance with oneself. If someone says that the reasoning that others say that ignorance contradicts views, what sutra says that the two are in accordance? That is the subject. It is not a proof that ignorance and views contradict each other, because ignorance is of the same side, and the view of the perishable aggregate is one of its sides, so it is in accordance, this is what is to be said here. Third, if asked: Then, what is the antidote that completely cuts off faults? The path of viewing the aggregates as empty of self, that is the subject. It is established as being in contradiction with the nature of the view of self, and all the faults such as attachment that arise from it, therefore it is the antidote to them. Because you and the view of self contradict each other directly in the way of grasping, and you enter into the reality of the object. Third, faults are the subject. Even if the antidote is practiced, it will not be exhausted, because it is the nature of sentient beings. Just as the form of form and the heat of fire do not exhaust. If it is said: Faults are the subject. Because you are the nature of the mind, it is not that you are not exhausted, this is not established. Because when the antidote, the realization of selflessness, is connected to the mind stream, you can also see the reversal of manifestation. If, like gold and so on, when melted by fire, the part where the fire has gone out becomes hard again, even if faults are abandoned once, they will return when separated from the antidote, then the mind stream where faults are completely stopped by practicing selflessness is the subject. Like the hardness of gold, because it is separated from the antidote, faults will not arise again. Because it has become the nature of the antidote, the realization of selflessness, it will not be separated from the antidote. And, even if it is separated from fire, ashes will not turn back into wood, so if it is separated from the antidote, its object of abandonment is not necessarily reversed. Second, it is necessary to prove that it is an antidote.
