By blocking dissimilar causes, one establishes similar causes. Regarding this, there are also three: ignorance, craving, and karma. Of these, the latter two do not necessarily produce suffering only in future lives. Therefore, here, establishing craving as the main factor of the accomplishing karma is the point at hand. Third, by establishing the cessation of suffering, one explains the Truth of Cessation, which has four points: establishing liberation from suffering; refuting arguments against the liberated one; refuting arguments against the path of liberation; and refuting that bondage and liberation are done by a self. The first point is: craving, the main factor of the cause of suffering, is a phenomenon; it is not permanent, because it possesses the cause of ignorance. This is universally valid, because the cause of ignorance may have obstacles and incomplete conditions, etc. The second point is: some say that, thinking the self is substantially existent, therefore sentient beings are phenomena; it is impossible to be liberated from samsara, because they are phenomena of samsara, just as the heat of fire cannot be escaped. If this is said, then that inference is a phenomenon; it does not harm Buddhists, because the Buddhist's intention and reason are not established, because of selflessness. So where should samsara and liberation be placed? Merely considering the aggregates of suffering as having causes is established as samsara, and merely considering the non-arising due to the abandonment of causes is established as liberation. If it is said that a person is a phenomenon; one should not strive to escape samsara and attain liberation, because the self of the samsaric one and the liberated one does not exist. If considered from the ultimate point of view, it is accepted, but if considered from the conventional point of view, the reason is not established. Thus, a person is a phenomenon; it is reasonable to strive to escape samsara and attain liberation in the conventional sense, because as long as attachment to the self has not been destroyed, and the aggregates possessing attachment to the self are completely tormented by suffering, therefore the self is falsely considered to be suffering, and does not abide in the nature of bliss, so in the conventional sense, I am samsara. Although the self of the liberated one does not exist in reality, in order to destroy the reversed clinging to self and what belongs to self, the effort of the aggregates is conventionally established as my effort. The key point is this: apart from those revered by the masses, all three realists of our own school consider the self, the person, and the sentient being

Furthermore, since the person (Tibetan: gang zag) is not substantially existent, it is not reasonable to have bondage and liberation in the ultimate sense, while the aggregates (Tibetan: phung po) are substantially existent, so it is reasonable to have bondage and liberation in the ultimate sense. In conventional terms, it is "I" who is in bondage and liberation, because when the aggregates suffer, it is superimposed that "I" am suffering, and when the aggregates are liberated from suffering, it is superimposed that "I" am liberated from suffering. The polymaths and outsiders believe that "I" is substantially existent, so it is reasonable to have bondage and liberation in the ultimate sense. To divide the aggregates and "I" into existent and non-existent, and the aggregates perform actions and experience the ripening results, while conventionally establishing that "I" perform actions and experience the ripening results, this is a branch that is needed in many situations. The third part is divided into two points: refuting the view that those who are free from attachment do not remain (in samsara), and refuting the view that there is no rebirth on the first noble path. The first point is divided into three parts: explaining the two reasons why those who are free from attachment remain, refuting the debate about the reasons, and refuting the debate about remaining. The first part is: those who have self-grasping remain in samsara because they are controlled by craving, so how can those who are free from attachment remain (in samsara)? O person who is free from attachment, you temporarily have a reason to remain in samsara, because you have two situations, the Mahayana noble ones remain in samsara because of love and great compassion, or the Hinayana arhats remain in samsara because of the power of past karma, because the past karma has already thrown the aggregates of this life, so it is believed that there is no way to reverse it temporarily. As it is said, in the Chapter on Instances, it says: "One should not rejoice in death, nor should one rejoice in life, like a trained bull, I wait for the time." The second part is divided into two points: refuting the debate about karma, and refuting the debate about love. The first part is: if those who are free from attachment remain in samsara because of karma, then will their karma also connect the continuum in other existences? The karma of the continuum of those who are free from attachment, who have completely transcended the craving for existence, cannot throw other future existences, because the co-operative conditions - afflictions and craving - have both been exhausted. The second part is: those who are free from attachment, should become those who have the view of sentient beings, because they have compassion, if you think so. Then, the impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness of the truth of suffering are directly known.
