Since there is no familiarity, for the mind stream that has transformed into the nature of realizing selflessness, there is no ability to cause harm later. Because even when selflessness was not seen before, the mind inherently had no ability to cause harm. The reason is established, because the nature of the mind is luminosity, and defilements are temporary. This shows that since there was no ability to harm inherently in the state of self-nature purity, there is no ability to harm temporarily in the state of temporary freedom from defilements later. If it is explained as the time when selflessness was just seen before, then the effect of the first two sentences has not been exerted. Third, even if it is assumed that there is an ability to generate faults, then for the entity of the mind stream that has transformed, defilements do not have the ability to remain permanently, because defilements have the essence of being able to generate the sight of selflessness that harms defilements. Just as fire cannot last long on wet ground. This shows that in the stage of learning, even if the abandonment abandoned by the worldly path may be lost, it can be quickly restored. Fourth, since all harms are completely pacified and have the characteristic of happiness, there is no harm; and because it takes impermanence etc. as its object, it enters the right path; and for the mind that has transformed into the nature of realizing selflessness through the completion of familiarity, even if one tries to generate faults through some inverted thoughts, it cannot be stopped, because the mind itself is on the side of holding the path—realizing selflessness—that is, it is natural. The third part has three points: merely different ways of holding are not antidotes; merely suppressing one side is not an antidote; therefore, the antidote that completely eradicates is explained. First, if seeing selflessness becomes the antidote to self-grasping because the object and aspect of seeing selflessness and self-grasping are contradictory, then do desire and hatred also become antidotes to each other because the object and aspect are contradictory? Desire and anger, even if the ways of holding are different, do not harm each other, because they are both produced from the same cause of grasping at self, and they also become things of cause and effect to each other. Second, the antidote to hatred is love,

Wasn't it also said to cultivate the contemplation of impurity as an antidote to attachment, and so on? Why is it said that realizing selflessness is the only antidote? Loving-kindness, etc., which focuses on sentient beings, does not completely eliminate faults, i.e., uproot them, because it does not contradict ignorance and the way of grasping, so it does not harm it. Because all faults have ignorance as their root. The previous reason is established, because the root of faults, ignorance, is also the view of the aggregates, and it does not contradict its way of grasping. The Vaibhashikas, etc., say, "The view of the aggregates is the inverted thought of meaning, and ignorance is merely the negation of knowledge, so those are not suitable to be one." Ignorance, what you assert, that other than the view of the aggregates is merely the negation of knowledge is not reasonable, because knowledge, wisdom, and the object focus on one, and have the aspect of entering into an inverted aspect. That is, ignorance, what you assert, focuses on the object of knowledge and wisdom, and is merely focused on as inverted from that aspect, because knowledge is the opposite of correct wisdom, i.e., what is to be harmed. In general, if it is a mental factor, it must be the same as the mind in five aspects, so you are also a mental factor, therefore it is a consciousness that grasps the object, and for that object, the aspect of wisdom and your aspect contradict, therefore it does not grasp the true aspect, and because you are said to be the nature of inverted imputation on the object. In the *Moon Lamp Sutra* it says: 'What is it that has no ignorance? That is, there is no imputation on the dharmas as they are.' Like that. Then it contradicts saying that ignorance is associated with views, because it is impossible for oneself to be associated with oneself. If someone says that the argument that others say that ignorance contradicts views, then which sutra says that the two are associated? That sutra is not an argument that ignorance contradicts views, because ignorance has the same side, and the view of the aggregates is its same side, therefore it will be said here that it is associated. Third, then what is the antidote that completely eliminates faults? That is, the path of viewing the aggregates as empty of self, what you assert
