Furthermore, a Stream-enterer (Skt. Śrotāpanna) is the subject. It is not the case that they manifestly run for the sake of happiness, because they have abandoned the innate view of self. The pervasion is: Because there is no seeing of "I," no one is attached to self. Because there is no craving for self, it is also not the case that they manifestly run for the sake of happiness. Fourth, refuting that bondage and liberation are done by a self, there are two parts: Refuting that it is done by a permanent self; refuting that it is done by something inexpressible. The first is: Sentient beings are the subject. There is a self that is a binder and a liberator, because I am bound by the suffering of samsara and there is liberation from it, like Deva is bound by iron fetters and there is liberation from them. If so, the permanent self is the subject. From what could that binding exist? It should not exist, because it is not a cause of suffering. The pervasion is: Binding by suffering is indeed the cause of the arising of suffering. Again, the permanent self is the subject. From what could liberation from suffering exist? It should not exist, because it is not a cause of the cessation of suffering. The pervasion is: Liberation from suffering is not causing suffering, that is, it is indeed the cause of cessation. Why is it not the cause of those two? That which is the self, that is the subject. It should not be the cause of any suffering, etc., because it is inexpressible as impermanence. The second is: The Sthavira school says, "Bondage and liberation are not appropriate for a permanent self, but bondage and liberation are appropriate for a self that is inexpressible as either permanent or impermanent." If so, even for a self that is not expressible as permanent or impermanent, it is also the subject. Bondage and liberation do not exist in any way, because it is not the cause of either the arising or cessation of suffering. The self is the subject. It should be permanent, because it is indestructible. The pervasion is: Whatever dharma whose nature is indestructible, the wise call it permanent. The Sthavira school is the subject. Abandon this shameful view that says the self is something that is neither permanent nor impermanent, and say that the self is permanent, because that self is not impermanent. Fourth, establishing the antidote to the view of self and explaining the truth of the path, there are two parts: Showing that realizing selflessness is the antidote; stating the proof that it is the antidote. The first has three parts: Abiding by familiarizing oneself with selflessness.

Shows the attainment of transformation. Even if transformation is attained, it prevents abandonment and destruction. Refutes the proof of not attaining transformation. First, the path of seeing selflessness, which was explained earlier during the exposition, is the antidote to samsara. Because when your practice is perfected through familiarity, the stream of the mind that cultivates becomes the basis of faults, completely transforms, and becomes the path of attaining the state of transformation into the nature of realizing selflessness. Second, there are three: Showing that there is no ability to abandon and destroy. Explaining in detail the proof of no ability. Refuting the contradiction in holding the proof and refuting. First, if the mind with faults can be transformed into faultlessness once, but the faults such as attachment to self and what belongs to self will still arise again in that mind, so there is no complete liberation from samsara. For example, just as the path arises in the mind with faults. If you think like this, then the mind transformed from the practice of the path does not produce faults again, because there is no ability to produce faults again. Second, there are four: Abandoning the contradiction in holding the antidote, the antidote truly enters. Because there are differences between nature and temporary, there was no ability before. Even if there is ability, the antidote can be generated effortlessly. The antidote with three differences cannot be reversed even with effort. First, why is there no ability? Because this mind transformed by cultivating the path, you do not have the ability to produce faults such as self-grasping again. In general, in the view of the Sutra School, the non-deceptive consciousness holds the dharma or reality of the object, that is, it holds the aspect of how the object exists, and the object itself is also the cause of this consciousness as it is. Like this, you have the nature of holding the object without deceiving the object. From you, self-grasping is due to temporary causes, deviating from holding the reality of the object, and to prevent it, it needs a measure that is harmful to the cause itself. For example, the instability of the mind stream arises due to temporary causes and is easy to separate, just like the illusion of a snake on a rope. Second, defilements, etc.,
