Refuting Disputes. First: If those with self-grasping remain in samsara due to the power of craving, how do those without desire remain in samsara? Those without desire, you temporarily have a cause for remaining in samsara, because you have two possibilities: either the Mahayana noble ones remain in samsara due to love and great compassion, or the Hinayana arhats remain in samsara due to the force of past karma, because past karma has already cast this life's aggregates, so it is considered temporarily irreversible. As it is said in the Chapter of Purposeful Utterances: "One should not rejoice in death, nor should one rejoice in life. Like a well-trained ox, I await the right time." Second, there are two parts: refuting disputes about karma, and refuting disputes about love. First: If the desireless remain in samsara due to karma, will that karma also connect the continuum in other existences? The karma in the continuum of the desireless, who have completely transcended the craving for existence, cannot project another existence, because both the co-emergent condition, the reverse craving, have been exhausted. Second: The desireless should have a view of sentient beings, because they have compassion. Answer: The love that arises in the continuum of directly knowing the impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness of the truth of suffering is not a self-view related to sentient beings, because there is no conflicting condition such as hatred, and it follows the conducive condition, the previous habituation of compassion, it is the nature of the reality of mind. Also, the desireless should become attached, because they have compassion. Answer: The love of the desireless is not attachment, because there is no inverted imputation on the object, it is merely knowing the stream of others' suffering, therefore you will arise. Omniscient, because permanence, happiness, self, and self-belonging are not the nature of the aggregates of phenomena, for an object that is not its nature, attachment arises from imputing permanence, etc. Also, the desireless, if harm is done to the object of love, should generate anger, because they have love.

If so, the one detached from desire, in terms of its nature, does not arise from anger because of harming the close cause, that is, the object of affection, because ignorance is the root of faults such as anger. That is also clinging to sentient beings, because that is absent. Therefore, the love of the one detached from desire, in terms of its nature, is considered to be without the fault of anger, because it does not arise from the cause of ignorance. The third has two parts: refuting the dispute about the place of dwelling by means of karma; refuting the dispute about the place of dwelling by means of love. First, if the one detached from desire has a body thrown by karma, it would become not liberated from samsara. If so, the one detached from desire dwelling by means of karma, in terms of its nature, is not without liberation from samsara, because the power of the previous karma that manifests the aggregates of this life is exhausted, the body reverts, and there is no desire, so it does not connect to another existence. Whatever detached one dwells in samsara, in terms of its nature, even if the power of the karma of formation is not exhausted, is not bound by samsara, because there is no fault of samsara. Second, again, why does the one detached from desire not dwell for a long time for the benefit of sentient beings out of compassion? Like the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, in terms of their nature, there is no great effort to dwell for a long time for the benefit of sentient beings, because compassion is inferior. Those Great Vehicle noble ones, in terms of their nature, dwell at all times for the sake of other sentient beings, because they possess great love, the cause of dwelling constantly and uninterruptedly for the sake of others. Second, refuting that there is no further existence even in the first noble path. If the view of the perishable collection is the cause of further existence, then in the first noble path, in the path of seeing, in terms of its nature, it should become without further existence, because it is separated from the view of the collection of perishables. If so, the Stream-enterer, in terms of its nature, is not reborn because there is no view of the perishable collection, because even though the imputed view of the perishable collection is abandoned, the co-emergent one is not abandoned. If that is abandoned, then the Stream-enterer, in terms of its nature, how could there be further existence? It should become nonexistent, because the co-emergent view of the perishable collection is abandoned. Why is the co-emergent view of the perishable collection not abandoned? The Stream-enterer, in terms of its nature, has not abandoned that, because there is a desire for "I" to become happy or not to become suffering. It pervades, because at that time, whatever thought arises of "I," that is the co-emergent view of sentient beings.
